I really trawled the internet trying to decide which light to buy for my Kindle. I wasn't willing to pay £50 for the official cover, especially since it wasn't getting as good reviews as the cover for the Kindle 3 or Kindle Keyboard. And many of the others seemed too flimsy to last. I eventually chose the Kandle and, although it is early days, I am very glad i did so.

When I saw this dinky little light, I thought it looked great in the photo. It looks great in real life too. It is small, neat and well packaged. I like that it comes with extra batteries and it's own little screwdriver to open the battery compartment. The little LEDs in the Kandle provide enough light to comfortably read without a big spread of light to disturb my sleeping husband. The angle of the light is adjustable too and means I can lie on my side while reading as easily as sitting up.

On other reviews, it has been pointed out that if the Kandle is pushed fully onto the Kindle, it blocks the first line of text. That is true, but doesn't bother me. It's not exactly rocket science to position it correctly. The spring clip on it is strong enough that I don't think it is going to slip off.

I can't tell yet how long the battery life is going to be. I will update this review when I figure that out, but since it comes with a set in the light and a spare set in the box, it seems good value. I splashed out and bought a few packs of spare batteries while I was at it.

I should note that I have a Kindle 4, with a pretty cheap (but perfectly functional) faux-leather book-style cover. The Kandle works with and without the cover.

This light is not cheap, but nor is it madly expensive and assuming it lasts, I won't consider it a bad investment.

This handy little device is ideal for owners of e-readers (who don't have lighted covers) and those reading hardback print books.

The Kandle is a reasonably lightweight clip on reading light. It comes supplied with a storage bag, a manual and warranty document, a screwdriver in the appropriate size/fitting to open the battery door, and 2 spare batteries - in addition to one already stored in the device (this has a slip of plastic between it and the Kandle's workings, to prevent depletion).

The device shell is made out of plastic and is generally quite light in weight, though the clip portion seems heavier than the rest of the device. Kandle runs on a single lithium battery.

The wide, well-padded attachment clip opens to a depth of about 1.5cm. You can clip it on your finger without causing marks or pain (reassuring to check that it won't cause damage to your book or device), and it can be attached directly to the edge of devices such as the Kindle or a Sony reader - though the presence of a cover seems preferable. The clip can also be attached to the cover of a book. It is a bit on the heavy side for use with paperbacks and is likely to damage the cover, if clipped on to a softbound book. Kandle doesn't have the option for free-standing function, so there is potential for restriction of use here.

Thanks to 2 integrated LEDs and a doubly angled head - whose angle can be adjusted both at the base and neck, Kandle provides good, even light over your page.

I ordered one of these after using one of the other types, the big bendy lamp things! My first choice of Kindle light was disappointing and I found it more of an annoyance than a help, too bulky and I constantly had to keep changing the angle on it whenever I moved.

I saw the Kandle instead and it looked like a more simple solution. And for £9.99, why not give it a try? I'm very glad that I did. I use this every night now. No bedside lamps on to disturb my other half! I have been using it for about 6 weeks for around 40 mins per night and so far have not had to change the battery.

In fact it's so good, I've since purchased one for my dad and will be sending off for more as Christmas presents :)

Really glad I decided to buy this little light. Its small, compact and powerful. It comes with a little bag to keep it in when not in use. It fits my kindle perfectly, doesn't interfer with the screen at all. Folds up neatly and doesn't take up any room in my bag. It also comes with a tool to open the light for replacing the battery, comes with a spare one of those too. Worth the money, a great buy!

Brilliant little light perfect for kindle at a very competitive price I noticed that one review states that it does not fit the kindle if it is in a case, this is not accurate at all as my wife and I both have kindles one with a keyboard and one without and both have different cases and this light fits both with the cases on so go ahead and buy i definitely recommend this fab little light

Ordered this clip on light for use with a kindle (keyboard version) on a Saturday and it arrived on Monday, excellent delivery. The Kandle came with a set of batteries installed plus a spare set, a neat carry pouch and a small screwdriver for unscrewing the battery replacement cover case. The unit is compact light and feels a quality product. The light fits just fine strainght onto the kindle or over the cover that I use. With the kandle attached to the kindle there is no real noticable additional weight to worry about. It has a nice tight fit that wont crush or damage the thin kindle. the actual light is surprisingly bright and clear and after several continous hours of use the light didnt dim and and made reading in total blackness an ease. the light does not give so called hotspots on the screen of the kindle, it gives an even spread of light thats just enough, you wont annoy fellow travellers on aeroplanes when this light is used. All in all its an excellent clip on light that comes with all you need and much much cheaper than the plain boring but expensive offical kindle lighted covers, Thoroughly recomended.

I bought this particular Kindle light because it appeared to be less obtrusive and obvious than most of the swan neck types. (I am partially sighted and have to get quite close to the screen to read, even using the largest font and I am sensitive to how this looks. I was a little worried bout whether the illumination would reach right down the page because the light was held at a low angle. I find that, provided I fix the light on the side of the Kindle rather than at the top, it is able to just about illuminate the whole of the screen. On the whole, it is a useful accessory and meets my purposes adequately.

Very neat and compact. Fits over Kindle perfectly even with a cover. The light is fairly evenly distributed over the page, although brighter at the top but this depends on the angle the e-reader is held. The more upright it is held, the more even is the distribution of light on the page. It is a pleasure to get away from the glaring high light that is experienced with the lights with flexible arms. I would recommend this light to anyone with an e-reader, particularly for reading in bed at night. It allows you to
read without disturbing your partner and does not spread light all over the room.

Had the Kindle Touch for a little while now and have often struggled what to do when reading it in bed. Could leave the bedside light on, but this only works when in a certain position. So, having looked around for a reading light, I finally chose the Kandle Ozeri - Just the Job, no matter how you shift about the light to read is just where you need it. Good value for money, too.
