5.0 out of 5 stars Deeply Affecting
It does not surprise people were in tears when this music was performed. Intensely moving, it pays tribute to all those who strive to bring peace to a troubled world.

In turns joyous and meditative, but always inspirational, it ranges from the simplicity of one voice to the grandeur of a great many - delving into past and present, into different religions and...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Peacemakers
I would have liked to have given three and a half stars but couldn't.
Being an MD of two Choral Societies I have conducted both his Armed Man and Stabat Mater.
Personally I found the latter more inspiring than the former.
The Peacemakers - although, clearly, I haven't had a chance to conduct yet, is an interesting work - very typically Jenkins - but not...

THE PEACEMAKERS
This is an interesting work. Not as good as The Armed Man. The choice of text is very good

Sounds very like the typical Karl, with some beautiful soaring choruses and the instrumentation we've grown to expect. A good addition to the CD library.

I think this is quite different from the usual run of music. The fact that the words don't rhyme but are the words that these famous people said makes it very personal. The overall impression is that peace is the only thing which will bring the peoples of the world together. Very moving!

A very interesting concept and a good follow up to the fabulous Armed Man. I have performed it in concert and found the disc very helpful.

I finally got around to listening to this CD during a recent stay in hospital. The stunningly beautiful harmonies and wonderful performances lifted me to another realm. Karl Jenkins has once again pushed the boundaries of classical music with his unique blend of unusual instruments, text and harmony. I love the great sound of the 1000 strong choir - and yet adore the solo performances. It has excitement and peaceful calm. Well done and thank you to Karl Jenkins for lifting me when I needed it most.

Absolutely wonderful music; Karl Jenkins always delivers. Just listening to this CD takes us back to the live concert when it was first performed at St. Davids Hall in Cardiff.

2.0 out of 5 stars Only for the fans.....of yawning, 1 Sep 2012
This review is from: Karl Jenkins: The Peacemakers (Digipack) (Audio CD)
Karl Jenkins is a populistic composer. But, it's not a bad thing to compose music that speaks to the hearts of many, quite the opposite. And there's no denying that Jenkins' music in many ways can drive many towards classical music and choir singing. Usually, this is done with thick, yet emotional harmonies and driving beats, but this time he has recycled a bit too much of his old stuff, and generally failed to create anything remotely interesting. There are a few high points where Jenkins' qualities shine through - "A Meditation" is certainly worth quite a few listens - but generally it's Jenkins on autopilot, with the emotion dial set to "none".

I guess the live experience can be quite different, but to just listen to it is....really...bo...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
