I'm not a culinary expert but was v.disappointed with this product. I was looking for the 'real vanilla' to add piquancy to smoothies, and assumed this 'Queen Vanilla Bean Extract' with its impressive name would supply a strong authentic flavour.
Am a little surprised by a review here mentioning the wonderful aroma when opening the small plastic bottle. The thing I noticed was the whiff of alcohol, faintly followed by something which (to me) was not outstandingly vanilla. (According to the list of ingredients this thing is first of all alcohol.)
I put a good desertspoonful of this product in a small fruit smoothie. There was practically no discernible difference in flavour, it was barely noticeable. A lot more than a spoonful is required for one smoothie, so this is quite a pricey product. (Now, I just splosh it into the smoothie from the bottle -and still forget vanilla is there!)
I've certainly experienced piquant vanilla somewhere, but not here. Maybe you need to use actual vanilla pods. (Or even synthetic vanilla, some synthetics are amazing.) Regret to say I found this 'Extract' almost pointless for the purpose, maybe it's better for baking.
