I have received an ARC copy of this book from the Author in exchange of an honest review.

Cold Blood is a second part of the series, that I started to love. Tara is fun, a bit mean and snarky, but also she is honest and not judgemental. I love that about her. She is not condemning all Weres, just because she is a Hunter. She believes that not all of them are insane and want to kill everyone. She wants to help everyone, but being part of prophecy is leaving her a bit stressed.

After Tara is shipped to her new school, she is not able to blend in. Being new student in a new school, where you don't know anyone is tough, but being new in a school where everyone is better in combat and hates her because of what she is, is like a living nightmare. She tries to not be affected by hatred and mean popular girls (even in paranormal school you get THOSE), but being away from home, friends and Wes is hard for her. She miss them. She miss him. And it doesn't help that he is not returning her emails. There is no news from him. And she again feels like everyone just keeps everything from her. To not help her misery, her new, HOT, trainer is disgusted in what she is (at least that's what she thought). But once all Hell break through and Miles is reappearing, claiming that they are destined to be together and rule the world, she learns that Alex is not disgusted nor he hates her. After their short moment, she feels guilty, but also confused about her feelings. After Wes decides to meet her suddenly, he is not showing up just to SEE HER, but has a motive and after that Tara is hurt, betrayed and sways even more toward Alex, who believes in her and knows she can handle herself, not like overprotective Wes, who is doubting her and her skills.

The whole situation gets even more complicated, with Miles and his secret project, and also uncontrollable rage that Tara feels. What is worse...once she is overtaken by it she can't remember a thing....

But I can't forget about the supporting characters! Cambria and Logan! I love them, they are so funny and so different! Cambria is so funny and I just love that she just wants to stir trouble hahah Logan is that hot Nerd guy, with unhealthy unrequited love :D I really hope we will see more of them!

In this part characters are so much better developed. I loved first book, but this? This one is like WOW! I can't wait to start the next part, which is waiting for me right now :D

So, this book sees Tara heading for Wood Point Academy (and no the name is not lost on me!!). This is a specialist school, and supposedly the best Hunter Training School in the country.

However, Tara wasnt ready for the shunning she got the first step she takes on Academy soil....for not being a pure blood Hunter.
Trying to ignore the whispers and words she trudges through her first week. Of course the obligatory blonde barbie bully and her cronies are there just taking every opportunity to make her feel worse than she is.
However, she meets two other "outsiders" - Logan and Cambria. Cambria is just a pure misfit, whereas Logan was last years new kid, but despite his good looks and intelligent, theres no clique to cater to both!

We meet the boy who saved Tara in the last book - hes called Alex, and he is assigned to train Tara every night and at the weekend. Hes not happy - he still sees her as a Dirty Blood, and Tara takes great pleasure in proving him to see WHO she is, and not what. Their relationship goes from hatred to almost a love relationship, but one that cannot be. Tara has mixed emotions about this, and its recalled really well.

And of course cant forget Miles - the hunter from the first book who turns out to be Leo's son - he too reveals as a mixed blood, but he is creepy. Calling Tara that he and her can rule and that he has a plan in the works.....and then he wants to meet her...

Of course it cant end well....
But what was the plan.....? And did he succeed in it?
Wesley is being promoted to be the leader of The Cause, so Tara is frustrated at not being able to contact him or see him....but when he shows up outside the Academys defense shield.....he reads Taras mind......and what had happened with Alex....
Something is changing in Tara too.....

One heck of a cliffhanger again, one that leaves one of the people Tara knows to be changed forever......

As Cold Blood starts we find Tara off to Wood Point Academy where she will begin her Hunter's training. The welcome she receives isn't very welcoming at all as the hunters have all been raised with and innate sense of hatred towards Werewolves and considering she is a werewolf/hunter hybrid, well, she's even lower than them - not fitting into either world. Leaving Wes behind is harsh and with friends few and far between, she is struggling to keep her spirits up especially when her assigned trainer seems to hate her too....... But as she finds her footing she finds a couple of friends who will accept her for who she is, it's just a shame not everyone feels that way as Tara becomes the victim of bullying as she feels the hatred towards her. Wes's absence is really felt and forces her in a direction she never wanted to take, leaving her confused and missing life before Wood Point. Thinking she would be safe there was a mistake also as Miles steps up his campaign to have her in all ways imaginable and he tells her he has come up with a plan for them to rule..... but just how far he will go is any ones guess, but it's about to rock the Hunter's world to the very foundations.

I really liked the second instalment of the Dirty Blood series, there was no let up in action and drama only this time we are on the Hunter's side of the fence. I really felt for Tara in some ways in this because in my opinion she went through a lot - giving up her home life to go to boarding school, peoples prejudice of her hybrid status, bullying/hazing that happened because of it, being separated from her friends and family (basically her support system) and of course Wes, being the object of a psycho's affection and the main focus of his delusions of grandeur, not to mention having a supposedly pre-ordained future that no one seems to want to give her any details about and then there's Alex..... this was a bit of a pet peeve for me and I didn't really like where it was heading, sorry I'm just not a fan of love triangles, I didn't feel like it was needed because she had tons going on otherwise and now she's the object of 4 peoples affections?? I went with it, I get why but it did take away some of my enjoyment with me not being a fan and quite simply - I missed Wes - I love their connection, they are the same status and know what it's like for each other, plus it's meant to be fate!
I liked the direction the storyline went, I liked the school setting and meeting the new characters. I like what Tara is discovering there about herself and about others. We sort of get a glimpse at just how much has been kept from her again and wonder just how much is left for her to discover and even I'm curious about her lineage project that is of importance but never seems to be finished, is there something hidden ? ;) I'm not a fan of the bullying but appreciate what it brings out in people when they go through it and there is always some inner reason for the bully to be behaving that way so I'm curious to see what will happen with that especially after certain events. I liked the way the Miles threat was handled, I love a good phone call campaign - menacing phone calls, texts and voicemails - where he seemed to know her every move and just to keep her updated on his dastardly plan coming together and when it did :O ß----*shocked face* because the repercussions of this is going to be felt all around and no one is safe! And just when you think that's it - oh no -we are left with a HUGE wt* moment right at the last sentence which leaves me very excited for book #3 Blood Bond. 4.5*s

I won an ebook copy of Cold Blood thanks to LovLivLife Reviews but in no way did that affect how much I enjoyed reading this book. With that being said, there were quite a few similiarities to Richelle Mead's 'Vampire Academy' series. Quite a few authors are now jumping on the whole 'MC gets taught how to defend herself my male love interest' bandwagon, and Heather Hildenbrand is one of them. Can;t wait to read the sequel to this when it comes out!

Tried Dirty Blood (Book1) as a freebie. Was hooked. Had to get Cold Blood and Blood Bond (Book3) as couldn't leave the series unfinished. They follow on brilliantly. I didn't read the Twilight series (saw the movies) and I liken these books to them but instead of vampires and werewolves you have hunters and werewolves. Have recommended to my friend - a Twilight fan.
