Films like this have action scenes that are choreographed like dances.
But you wouldn't dare dance with zoe soldano after seeing this in case you trod on
her toes and upset her.Characters as shallow as hell and hell created many many times
in the action, worth watching once but would be a little tedious on a second viewing.
Nice eye candy though and good cinematography in general.

I approached this film apprehensively, especially considering the clichés which abound in most revenge type films. Fortunately, the film is a masterpiece and Cataleya (Zoe Saldana) brings a vulnerability that we can all relate to, as well as awesome bada**ery. There is plenty of action, but it is done tastefully and always propels the story further. In terms of romance, there is a sweet storyline where we come to understand who Cataleya is as a woman. It is done tastefully and avoids the cringe factor. Family is also a major theme, and this is where the emotional roller-coaster stems from. Put simply, Colombiana is a fantastic film which you'll be happy to watch over again. Give it a chance and you might just be surprised.

Two big thumbs up!

I have to admit that I had never heard of this film when I ordered it purely on the strength of its trailer. Although completely OTT, it is so well acted, scripted and directed that it almost becomes believable. You completely identify with the main character thanks to an exceptionally clever and well made opening sequence. Zoe Saldana is brilliant as the revenge killer - her good looks don't do any harm either(!). I reserve 5* for classics that are worth seeing over and over again over the years; this does not quite make that grade - but it comes close!

A revenge movie that delivers. Cataleya (Zoe Saldana) is an excellent character, driven but vulnerable. There's potential for a follow-up, I'd have thought. Slick, fast paced, visceral and very watchable.
Screenwriter flaw - 9yr old Cataleya wants to be like Xena when she grows up - wrong, as it's 1992 and Xena didn't hit the TV screens till 1995.

Colombiana [DVD] Excellent Movie! A young woman grows up to be a stone-cold assassin after witnessing her parents' murder as a child in Bogota. She works for her uncle as a hitman by day, but her personal time is spent engaging in vigilante murders that she hopes will lead her to her ultimate target - the mobster responsible for her parents' death.

Luc Besson does it agsin here in his mad action packed Colombiana.

Zoe Saldana (of Star trek and Avatar) plays a woman who as a child (played by Amandla Steinberg, Rue of The Hunger Games) witnesses the murder of her parents by a gang boss and his men.

Moments before they're killed she is given information on a memory card by her father to use to get her into America to safety. She finds her uncle who is also involved in the criminal world who puts her through school and brings her up in relative safety.

Cue fifteen years later and she's a skillful assassin who vows revenge on the people involved in the murder of her parents. Weak in storyline but strong on action as these types of movie are in general, this isn't for anybody wanting a deep meaningful storyline. If you want to see a sexy woman in skintight catsuits who's a weapons and unarmed combat expert armed to the teeth. . .this is right up your street!

The plot has more holes in it than a second hand dartboard but this is not a problem because the very gorgeous Zoe Saldana will take your mind off all that as she kicks, punches and rocket propelled grenades her way through anybody in order to get to her target.

On bluray the movie is great.

Very nice visually and crystal clear. Night scenes have clarity and good detail and with all the gunfights and explosions going on, its all good here! Audiowise its good stuff too. Gunfire is brilliant, grenades blow out of your sub woofer and the surround sound effects are spot on too.I'd say its a good sat night movie to watch with your delivery food!

Extras on the disc. . .
-The making of
-Cataleyas journey
-Assassins
-Training a killer

Personally I love films like this. The critics slammed it for being shallow and untalented but I thought it was great. If you like The Long Kiss Goodnight and other revenge type action films you won't go far wrong with this. If you're looking for something deep and meaningful go somewhere else.

This is a very well constructed revenge thriller with a brilliant story thats well paced and action packed from start to finish, very gritty and well directed with some great editing during the action like you expect from any film produced by Luc Besson, the cast is amazing Zoe Saldana plays a believable assassin and a very elegant beauty she is too, this type of film has certainly been done before but Colombiana still finds itself being original and very smart and slick and certainly is very entertaining and worth every penny.

'Cataleys' parents are brutally murdered by a Columbian '' mobster's '' gunmen, she was but 9 years old.
Knowing he was about to die, her father gave 'Cataley' (AmandIa Stenberg) a chance for a new future.
she was flown by the authorities to the u.s.a where she flew the nest and saught out her ''gangster' uncle in 'chicago'
She insisted that 'Emillio' (Cliff Curtis) taught her how to use a variety of weapons and defend herself, schooling was secondary to 'Catalley' her motive was of course revenge for the death of her parents.
Fifteen years past, 'Cataley' (Zoe Saidana) was a trained killer and her deadly intent was about to be administered.
the film has a certain amount of tention, much violent action, and one or two situations that should put a smile on your face.............this is a very good watch...............enjoy.

Though a predictable plot, it is a fun watch, with the heroine justifiably sorting out the bad guys. Some of the characters could have been developed slightly more, but it does not detract from the film. Satisfactory ending for chief villain.
