very poor software,it installed ok but as soon as i did a registry clean, it altered all the text in my word documents
i contacted their customer service, they emailed me instructions to supposedly fix the problem, followed the instructions to the letter, but it was no good the problem still was still there, so i uninstalled the software, sent pc tools an email telling them if they are going to sell software they should make sure its compatable with windows 7 they told me they knew the problem exists but it dont seem like they are in a hurry to fix it.

I bought this product to update a earlier version that was about to expire, whilst it installed ok on the first PC using the code provided on the box (though as a earlier reviewer said it has disabled the auto run on my digital camera and CD's and DVD's, and possible other things not yet discovered).
In the mean time I tried to install it onto my 2 laptops but without success as it will not accept the code on the box a second time, I received a Email from PCtools which had a new licence number but this too fails to be accepted and I am automatically routed to a purchase page where I can purchase a copy of the software....infuriating.
I tried the online chat help but after only a few questions I was instructed to call a technical hotline......more infuriating.
I then raised a ticket for technical support but I am still waiting for them to get back to me.
I am really fed up at this point and will be looking to uninstall this program and try to restore my computer to a time before this fiasco.
This product is cheap here on Amazon and I am not surprised because it really is a nightmare to work with, unless of course you only need it on one computer and you want to disable your autorun functions.
Avoid at all costs, I wish I could give it NO STARS.

Pain in the proverbial - had to take it off the computer and just use the new code with the old version which, fortunately, worked - the computer was soooo slow with the new version loaded on it was virtually unuseable. Not to mention the very unwelcome PC Tools logo addition in the toolbar. So, technically, I've paid around £14 for the new code...

Registry Mechanic 2011 was perfect. Upgrading to Registry Mechanic 2012, it disabled the autorun on all cd's and dvd's. In additional it wiped out the registry entries for my scanner. I had to do a system restore to the date prior to installation of Registry Mechanic 2012, to get my settings back to normal. The indicator on RM never altered always showing the midway point. Somewhat dissapointing.

I have tried and tried to install this on a laptop but it keeps insisting that I must activate it and that I have the wrong installation code despite the code having been accepted previously when I installed it on my tower. You are allowed to install on three computers but their technology doesn't seem to be able to handle installation on more than one. It has theoretically at least installed but the insistence that it be activated and dismissing the code number as wrong just keeps occurring. If it is supposed to be so damned clever one is forced to wonder if it can't handle being installed on two computers.

I would not recommend this 2012 version to anyone! After loading, the system health would not go above the medium mark. I did as another reviewer suggested and reloaded the new version, replacing the new activation code with the code from my old version. Works a treat! System health is now back to "High", as it should be, and computer is running well.

I consider Reg Mechanic an essential bit of software to ensure the smooth ruining of a PC. I don't use the clean and compact registry tools every time I install or update any software on my PCs. I have been using this software since Windows ME. I'm now running Windows 8, five PCs later I have never had to undergo a reformat due to software conflicts because I use this tool.

Just installed it on Windows 7 (64 bit), ran a registry clean, restarted and all's fine. The CD comes with only one serial-key which you use for all 3 users. When I installed it, Setup found a newer version online and this was the one installed. You also get emailed a download link with a new serial key.

I've used RM from way back, primarily because software made for Windows never fully uninstall. Even the Temp directory gets filled up with stuff that should have been deleted when no longer needed. Only one word to describe Windows: RUBBISH! So get this copy of RM and run it every month. It's safer than other (free) products I've used (especially when I had Windows XP). If you've used Windows for a year and install RM, then expect it to find 600+ errors/inconsistencies/redundancies.

One word of advice though, before your first scan, click on "Setttings" tab, then click "Registry" on the left and ensure that "Create System Restore Point" (on the right) is ticked. This way if RM makes a mess then you can undo it! By mess, I mean if you have some custom accounting software that was badly programmed by some rookie who doesn't understand Windows registry then RM may delete this software's serial key and your software will not load. It's not RM's fault. RM follows a set of rules to do its clean up. If a rookie programmer doesn't understand these rules, then it's his fault, not RM. But make sure you can revert RM's changes.

Other things that you might also want to do:
- Go in "Settings," click "Scheduler" and untick "Enable Scheduled Scans."
- Go in "Settings," click "Scheduler" and disable the "Privacy Scan and Clean" switch (grey=off; green=on) - This feature wipes Firefox's history and you will lose your tabs next time you open Firefox.

I was told I had a problem with my registries. This solved the problem -and at a very low cost. It could not have been easier.
