Everybody should own a copy of this, one of the best albums ever recorded. This scores one hundred percent and never gets dull. The CD versiion contains two bonus tracks and one of them, Pick Myself Up (live) is mindblowing. I'm not a big fan of live tracks tagged on to the end of reissues but this track alone is worth ten times the price of this CD, as if the rest of the songs weren't good enough! With this album it's impossible not to turn up the bass and volume in equal measures and let the neighbours enjoy it too! Buy it or forever live an impoverished life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Equal Rights, 14 May 2009
This review is from: Equal Rights (Audio CD)
This is perhaps one of Peter Tosh's best albums. The first three songs on the album really set the tone for the rest of the piece. Downpressor man is perhaps the most revelaing song. Later in Tosh's live perfomances this track was usually mixed with Equal Rights with stunning results. How you take the album entirely depends on what mood you are in. For example Downpressor man is great on some days but for a more lively feel its probably best to listen to the live versions of this song. Itrs an excellent album that lays down some of peter's political and religiuos thoughts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Underrated Genius, 5 May 2013

Peter Tosh's Second sublime album.
This album gets better with every listen. The stand out tracks on the album have to be 'Stepping Razor' and 'Get up, stand up' (which Peter Tosh wrote), a far better version than the Bob Marley one.
I find the bonus tracks on albums to be an excuse to re-release an old album again, and the bonus tracks are usually inferior tracks that weren't good enough to make it onto the album the first time round. The live version of 'Pick Myself Up' is an exception, and was truly a bonus. literally.
Anything involving Sly and Robbie is always worth a listen as well. One of the greatest reggae albums ever made and doesn't sound dated at all.
Great value for money from Reggae royalty

There has never been an artist quite as remarkable as the late great Peter Tosh. His music lives on forever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love this album, 13 Nov. 2012
This review is from: Equal Rights (Audio CD)
Got this originally on vinyl and it got so over played at parties as a chill out "end-of-the-night" record that the cover was a tatter and the vinyl completely trashed. Have got it just recently on CD after a long absence and it has taken me back to a rather mis-spent period of my life. But the songs are brilliant and Tosh is on great form this album, together with Legalize It are essential to any good collection.

Ahhh, fond memories.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent vocal LP shame about the Dub, 16 Nov. 2014

Excellent quality vinyl with the Dub LP letting the side down. They could have hired a reputable Dub engineer such as Scientist or Paul Groucho Smykle to mix the dubs, because they sound as if the engineer could not have bothered. Therefore making this package a money making venture for the record company rather than a love for quality vinyl production.
