This review is from: Highland Sanctuary (Kindle Edition)
The story is about Serena Boyd and the effect the fits that she has, has on her family and those close to her. The story is set in a time when fits were seen as being evil and ikely to result in being burnt alive. Serena lives in a village where each person has something that makes them unacceptable to the larger society. She is courted by two different men. Gavin has come to rebuild the castle for the local laird and to find out what is behind the death of the previous laird. The laird also courts Serena. She does eventually accept the hand of one of them but you will need to read the book to find out which. Serena is also persecuted by the church for her fits. Her past eventually catches up with her and her mother but she survives the twists and turns of the plot. There is also a secret that the village knows and which other people (who are probably behind the death of the previous laird) are keen to find out. They are behind some of the sinister attacks made on the village. The exploration by the author of the way that people in the past viewed fits is certainly interesting and made more poignant when in the postscript the author reveals that a family member has been affected by a similar condition.
