Tough and headstrong cop, Rizzoli (played by Angie Harmon), and brilliant medical examiner, Isles (Sasha Alexander), form a great team when it comes to solving crimes, and despite their obvious differences - Rizzoli comes from a large cop family, has 3 brothers and doesn't much care for girly things whereas Isles is the cultured, if at times socially inept, woman of the world who wouldn't be caught dead in flats - they also find themselves becoming great friends off duty.

The crime stories as such are not particularly gripping, but the chemistry between the two main characters is sizzling and there is great humour throughout the series - both in the dialogue and just watching Rizzoli's facial expressions when once again Maura Isles has made one of her more outlandish statements or provided one of her unwanted and seemingly endless facts.

Very much worth a view!

i really love this show because of the two leading ladies ANGIE HARMON and SASHA ALEXANDER they are really good i like when angie plays the cop she suits the part thank you TNT for rizzoli and isles

I have read all Tess Gerriston's books & was so happy to see it was going to be a T.V show first in America then in the U.K I was hooked after the first 1.. They are a great team with some great laugh's there as well I really would love a Mum like Rizzoli's she is just soo funny.. I can't wait for this to come out on Dvd & I'm enjoying sereis 2 I hope they will come back for series 3 & even mayby a 4th its a must buy :)

I had never heard of the books this show is based on, hadn't even heard of the show - it was recommended to me here on Amazon - no doubt based on the large number of Law & Order DVD's I have lying around the house. But of all the actors who sat alongside Sam Waterston on that show, Angie Harmon was always my favourite - so I took the chance.
She has actually more to do in this show, as a cop (Rizzoli) alongside Sasha Alexander as the Medical Examiner (Isles). In the extras the makers seemed to be suggesting they were doing something a bit different. Actually from the two female leads (I'm old enough to remember Cagney and Lacey) to the ME who tends to stray a bit beyond the job remit (RIP Jack Klugman) I don't honestly think there is anything here I haven't seen before. But I still really enjoyed it. For me this show's strength is it's cast. Even when the stories are on the thin side they keep it going. The two leads seem naturally comfortable together. There is nothing more painful than watching people who can't do comedy trying to do comedy - but they handle the light stuff really really well. The supporting cast also deserve a mention as they bring life to what could be one dimensional roles.
The Boston setting makes an interesting change from the more familiar LA or New York. Oh, and Angie Harmon looks just as gorgeous now as she did over a decade ago....
As long as you aren't expecting something too demanding I think there is very little here not to like. Will get Season 2.

I was also a bit skeptical about this show after reading the books 1st, I put off watching it for ages but so glad I eventually gave in. The show is just awesome. I love the chemistry between all the characters, esp Rizzoli & Isles though. They just make a great team.
There is comedy in the show to which seeps in just nicely. Rizzoli's mum is another of my fave characters. Once I started watching I couldnt stop. Season 2 so far is excellent as well. Really hope its returning for a season 3! The cliffhanger at the end of this season was epic. I was on the edge of my seat.

Randomly watched the third episode of this one evening when there was nothing else on, was hooked from the off. Brilliant acting and brilliant chemistry between all the characters. There is also a good balance between the cases and the character relationships. Fast became one of my favourite ever TV programmes, cannot wait for series 3!!

Series focuses on Detective Jane Rizzoli and Doctor Maura Isles. I've read some of the books it's based upon and a lot of the characters are quite different to how they are in the books, but even then, it's still amazing :D

Cannot wait until it's released, birthday present sorted.

Loved it, good story line and funny, cant wait to get season3. The problem is as soon as I get it, I want to watch all of it, cant turn it off.

This is an amazing tv show as it shows both sides to the law enforcements and perfect for anyone whose a fan of other crime dramas, well worth buying 100% perfect to add to anyone's crime drama collection

I am a great fan of the books by Tess Geritson and I love this series as well. The box set arrived arrived ahead of the estimated delivery date and was just what I ordered thankyou.

If you enjoy Tess Gerritsen's books then you'll love the tv series. I have seen a few on the tv but never the beginning. this set is well worth having. I have watched a few times already. Was a bit disappointed that they didn't do more in the first series but that's the way it is. Great cliffhanger on the last episode. Well worth the money paid. Thanks
