I fancied this because:

- 70 lumens seemed quite an intense light

- enough charge on high level mode ~3 hours

- USB charging and no external battery pack.

What surprised me was how small it was on opening the package but it does the job and leaves stars in the eyes if you look too closely into it turned on @70 lumens. High power has enough light for 10-20 feet in front on a dark, unlit country lane such that I can avoid most potholes at speed (my general average is 12-15 mph).

Battery life seems as advertised - 3 hours @ 70 lumens which is enough for most night time rides, as is the recharging time @~2 hours.

The strap mechanism works just fine on my taped handlebars but is even better woven into the vents of my helmet to give light in the direction I am looking as I always travel with a standard light on the handlebars facing forward as backup.

The only minor niggle is the USB connector which is the older mini-USB type, not the micro USB type found on most mobile phones nowadays which means I have to carry the cable with me for recharging off the nearest USB port whereas I have micro USM cables all over the place.

All in all, highly recommended.

PROS:
Super bright
light
stylish
rechargeable
quick release (too quick?)

CONS
Expensive
not waterproof, just resistant
Strap seems very flimsy/rubbery. Don't think I can trust it

I am a seasoned bike commuter and cycle roughly 10miles a day to and from work , all weathers, all the year round.

This light is smaller than a matchbox with 5 super duper bright LEDs. The light seems to have 4 settings: on, superbright on, strobe and flash.

At last I have a bike light that lights up the street signs in front of me. I don't mean just in front but a good 30 feet ahead of me. I tried this light out today (it arrived fully charged) and the road signs across the junction were reflecting my light (it was definitely my light, I could tell by the strobe). I felt I needed to dip the light as it was so bright I worried about dazzling drivers.

The light also lights a good patch of ground ahead of me, it would definitely light a dark road enough for visibility for the cyclist and traffic around. I would say a diameter of about 4 feet light. My carpark is dark and I could see the patch of ground ahead

I give this light 4 stars as they have yet to make Moon light WATERPROOF, it is just resistant. However, I have a 3 year old moon rear light which sits on my helmet and it is still going strong, again all weathers.

Its expensive compared to other companies, but I am hoping it lasts longer than my cateye lights which last around 2 or 3 years.

Its main downside is the strap, its crap. Very very rubbery (more so than my other moon light) I am really worried it will ping off as it doesn't secure very well. I will have to think how to tether the light to my bike securely. Cable ties perhaps?

I will update this review after winter

Comes in a really nice clear package - great for personal and very good for packing/wrapping as a gift.

Instructions are pretty idiot proof, but so is the Moon Mask :)

It's designed for the "fat" micro usb connection. For those of us with the "normal" micro usb connections all over the place this is a very minor niggle.
That being said, I prefer the "fat" micro usb - the connection always seems a bit more reliable.

My Moon Mask arrived pretty much fully charged. Following the guidance on the instructions (see, some of us do read them) I went for the full discharge before topping it up in order to maximise battery range.
At full brightness in a warm room I got just over 4 hours from "delivery charge".
Took just over 2 hours to fully recharge from a pretty useless home PC.

The night illumination is - literally - brilliant. My main concern is dusk, since this coincides with the rat run home - the fast pulse is ideal for attention seeking.

The Moon Mask 5 was a little more than I had planned for just a front light. On reflection for a rechargeable really brilliant front light it was a great price.

**NOTE: My one reservation is the strength of the quick release rubber bar strap. I HOPE it will last a lot longer than it feel. I'll let you know :)

Fantastic light! About the same size as a matchbox. Was a little dubious at first but the output is blinding, to be seen by other road users is essential and this little gem has replaced by main beam light! the light is so good that when I use it, oncoming motorists actually slow down which normally doesn't happen if the light is off. The rubber strap makes it easy to remove and you can rotate the light!

It loses one star because the charging port is mini usb as oppose to micro usb which seems to be the norm with most gadgets/smartphones, unfortunately this means I have to carry the cable for mini usb if I want to recharge.

Despite my gripe about the charging port, I have been incredibly impressed with the build and light output, I've just placed an order for a Moon rear light. These lights are simply awesome.

Tiny but powerful light, illuminates well for riding across unlit fen, over bridges, avoiding blackberry tendrils and potholes.
When directed appropriately picks out unlit pedestrians.
Great little light to keep in bag for emergencies.
Rubber clasp for fixing to bike basket, or handlebars is neat and effective.

Very bright and clips easily on to your handlebars.

Only issue is that it has the old style usb port for charging (rather than the new style most smartphones have). So, you need to make sure you take the cable with you on trip.

Otherwise, great!

Wow! I purchased this light as a backup to my current light. However, as soon as I switched this light on , it was immediately upgraded to my number 1 light. It is small , yet so powerful. If you want to be safe- I would highly recommend this kit!

Bought a set of front and back led lights which werent bright enough for night cycling. This is like the light frodo gets from the elves! Only drained down once and recharged once but seems to work as it is supposed to.

For a light no bigger than a small box of matches, its very bright and takes up no room on my bikes handlebars ideal as secondary light, no complaints what so ever excellent depatch and delivery well packaged.
