An insight into Foster Care
on 7 April 2012
I am a Foster Carer, but do not do the specialised fostering that Casey does. I have little ones up to 5 years old and that is hard enough. I am full of admiration for Casey and her family. Fostering is a way of life that affects everything you do, and Casey I feel puts the story across in an easy to read way that has you struggling to put the book down.
People have compared her to Cathy Glass. They are both Foster Carers, but have their own stories to tell. I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in this field. I do think it would benefit Foster Carers and the children in their care if all Social Workers had to read Casey and Cathy's books as they may then realise the impact these children have on us, and the difficulties that arise from lack of support. At least a Social Worker can go home at the end of the day !!
