5.0 out of 5 stars Underrated over performer, 12 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: AMD FX-8150 Eight Core Processor - 3.60GHz, 16MB, L3 Cache, Socket AM3+ (Personal Computers)
Set at 3.6ghz but as it is unlocked I have seen surges of up to 4.2 when monitoring it under benchmark loads and for the price you can pick these up you will be unable to find a intel that works as well. The heatsink is a beast. The tin it come in make it look great and keep it safe in transit unlike the cheap looking boxes they use on the newer fx8350 I know this May not seem important but it does make a good office storage container and give you a impression that what you have brought is top quality.

Delighted with the product and it does not run over 55C, even with all cores at 95% load, using my Zalman Reservator water cooler and a fan blowing on the back of the CPU.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice processor, ridiculous stock cooler, 27 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: AMD FX-8150 Eight Core Processor - 3.60GHz, 16MB, L3 Cache, Socket AM3+ (Personal Computers)
I replaced my 2010 motherboard and processor and installed the FX-8150. It is working just fine. I do image and video editing, and things are running quite smoothly. In some benchmark tests this processor didn't fare that well, but in everyday use I see no reason to complain.

However, I was surprised at the abysmal quality of the stock CPU cooler, even though I had read about this issue in customer reviews. The amount of noise the cooler makes is phenomenal, even when in an idle state. When I started to watch a (standard quality) streaming video, the cooler became so loud I was afraid that it was going to come bursting through the case. I ran into the store and got a Zalman cooler to preserve my sanity.
