I've been running seriously for three years now and no matter what shoe or brand I tried I always had to strap my right foot because of wear on my inner arch. Then I found the Asics Kayanos. The 17s were superb, the 18s are legendary. I recently upped my distance to over 50 miles a week and these shoes have coped effortlessly.

I'm always a little dubious of shoe companies that release a new shoe to replace one that's working perfectly well, but the Kayano 18s are a great improvement over shoes that were already amazing. They're lighter than their older brothers and feel more comfortable. They offer just the right amount of support where you want it most. I honestly cannot recommend these shoes highly enough. If you pronate, they are perfect for you.

I'm an overpronator and it's usually hard to find shoes that help correct my running form. The Gel Kayano 17 was a fantastic shoe for that, but they have changed something in this model, and I find myself overpronating much more than I did with the earlier version. I wish I had stuck with the older ones. Definitely try these before you buy them, may work for you but they are substantially different from the previous version.

I dont often write reviews but feel its important for the kayano 18 as some reviews werent great and made me hesitate about purchasing them, even thought about getting another pair of kayano 17s. Im a casual enough runner, but in the summer i attend 5/10k races and run sub 7min miles, i over pronate so runners are important. This is my 4th pair of kayanos and they feel better than ever, slightly more arch support. These runners are brilliant, they need a bit of breaking in (walking around the house, walking and slow jogs for 2 days). So basically, for pronaters you wont find a better shoe. Ps: For me they last 1 yr tops,so when u feel the thud through your heel after a few months (regardless of how intact they look), time to replace :-)

I tried Asics Kayano's back in 2006 after using a couple of other makes and models of running shoe and have bought them ever since.
As a series of show they are great for my over pronation and I don't get the heel problems I did with the harder 21X0 series when running over 12 miles; the Kayano 18 is no different in this respect.
The Kayano 17 had a real problem with the mesh fabric ripping over my big toe even before they'd done their requisite distance. I'm pleased to say that Asics have modified the design with the Kayano 18 and extended the silver material at the front over this position, so hopefully they'll stay splashproof for longer.
Very comfortable (as always) and I really like the colour combination, perfect for this wet and muddy summer.

I loved the 16 and 17 version of this shoe so these were the top of my list when i had the cash for a new pair but there far more narrow and give me blisters. Try them out in a shop before assuming your size on line.

A well formed and comfortable sports shoe with support and stability for any activity, great for walking or jogging, making arch supports obsolete for many.

This is the best shoe for my type of foot, High to med arch and medium pronation. I use them with other insoles, the green superfeet for even better support. Asics own insoles are more comfortable but its a personal choice. To explain how good the shoes fit me, I also own Asics Nimbus 12 and Nimbus 13. With both Nimbus fitted with superfeet insoles I returned home with a metatarsal pain on my right foot and slight aching in the calve. With the Kayanos I don't feel pain, the aching is lighter and all my five toes step equally during activity. These together with a good quality compression socks and I forget I am 41. Don't buy it too tight especially if you want to experiment with other insoles.

I had my doubts ordering the Kayano 18s having disappointingly returned a pair of previous Kayano 17s due to the formation of holes in the inner lining on both runners after a few weeks of running (Amazon dealt with the return brillianlty). Previous to the 17s I had owned the Kayano 14s which I treasured. Running on air was an understatement. I hoped these newer ones would show more of the ealier models I loved so much and it turned out to be the case. Six months running an average of 30 kilometers a week and going very strong. No blisters and no pains. Very nice degree of support and cushioning and my faith in the Kayano has been restored.

I don't have personal experience, I got them as a gift for my brother. It's his 3rd or 4th pair of ASICS Kayano shoes, he had some previous models as well. He's absolutely satisfied with the shoes, he says that they are the best he has ever used especially in running. I'm very close to get a pair for myself too. Also, once he had a problem with his leg, his doctor recommended them to him. I think he mentioned that they don't last as much as he would prefer and he also sizes down.
