Very happy with this keyboard.

Bought it for my 7 year old (not that it's designed for kids - it's a 'proper' keyboard), who is enjoying learning the many built-in songs. The light up keys are a superb teaching aid, and it took him only 15 minutes to learn the right hand part of his first song (there are about 100 to choose from).

The keyboard teaches you one 'phrase' (short section) of the song at a time, which it gets you to listen to, then play with the aid of the light up keys, then play by yourself. When you play it well enough, you get a 'Bravo!', and it's on to the next phrase. Every few phrases, it makes you play everything you've learned so far 'from the top'. It works very well indeed, and I've used it to learn a song or two as well, but I usually have to turn the tempo down so it doesn't go too quickly.

It's packed with plenty of other features too, including lots of sounds, rhythms etc. You can also record your own songs, with up to 6 separate parts in each. Plenty for messing about with. You can record a short audio clip with the supplied microphone, and 'play' it on the keyboard, which is an entertaining, if short lived novelty.

The keyboard can also be plugged into a PC via USB, and used as a MIDI controller in music software such as Cakewalk SONAR.

Why only 4 stars? It's really not very intuitive to use, and the manual doesn't help much either (you keep having to refer back to the main keyboard diagram because it says things like 'press button 2, then button 23...'). You can usually figure out what you need to do, but it takes longer than it should. Fortunately 7 year olds learn quickly, but I find it frustrating sometimes.

Overall, an excellent keyboard, especially for a beginner with some aptitude.
