3.0 out of 5 stars A slight mis-step..., 8 May 2014
This review is from: Vandals on Venus (Space: 1889 & Beyond Book 2) (Kindle Edition)
This second book is...okay. I like the characterisation of Nathaniel and Annabelle. There's a lot of fun between the two of them. The eternal frustrations of Nathaniel is well played out, and Annabelle's attraction and fondness for Nathaniel is shown with great humour. The story itself is quite simple, almost clichéd in some ways, with both Germans and an Irishman who go well into stereotype territory.

In terms of the series as a whole, this book is almost a throwaway piece, and would be if not for the fact that it helps to establish the link between the lead characters and introduces us to the world of Venus and the lizardmen - especially Thymon who is a wonderful creation.
