I brought this lens as i did not want to keep changing lens all the time. I am just starting out with DSLR's so this was a good price for the range.

Currently using it for a Canon 350D. Auto focus works well and the optical stabilisation is fair. It does take very good close portrait shots compared to wider landscape shots - but that might just be me and my current skill level (beginner)!

I would probably spend a bit more and get a wider range, but still having fun with this one at the moment.

Having needed a lens with wide to narrow settings to save lens changes while on the move I decided after an article in photo plus magazine that this sigma lens was the way to go with limited cash to spend.I expected with the 18-200 there would be compromises but overall it was not nearly as good as expected.
The image stabilising is to say the least useless and the only way to get a sharp picture is to set everything up manualy,It seems to be of a high build quality but thats as far as it goes, perhaps I just got a friday afternoon one but it has put me more in the Tamron lens camp than ever and off sigma for good.
Perhaps I am expecting to much for so little money but I would at least expect it to function correctly.
If perhaps you think I am a little harsh on this review and do not understand lenses and their functions I have been an amature photographer for nearly 60years now so have amassed some knowledge along the way.
I would therefore seriously recommend that you try before you buy.

Fast delivery from Amazon as usual, brill service
I own a Canon 7D and not sure if this Lens is working properly Ive had it for a few weeks now, it seems to be out of focus most of the time and quite blurred when in auto focus, but this could be pherhaps because of the fixed 6.3 aperture Im not sure, Manual focus seems to work but not Auto,I will have to test some more, but I own a Sigma 17-70mm Lens and its much sharper and has a better deth of field than the Sigma 18-200mm. I wish Id not bought this Lens. Disapointed

As an amateur photographer, it's been perfect. I have found that as I'm still learning, this lens has helped me to pick up new skills and figure out some of the areas I still need to work on. Couldn't ask for more at this time!

This lens arrived on time for the trip, got some good shots. My first zoom lens and after two outings I'm finding it easy to use.

I use this lens for group shots and architecture along with indoor shots. It was useful when my dad wanted to sell his caravan as I was able to take some really good shots that gave a good representation of the inside.

I purchased a Sigma 18-200 zoom lens and after a week of testing and comparisons I sent it back. Fortunately Amazon has a swift no quibble returns policy.

Sigma's lens failed because the images were soft and focusing problematic. The lens also started to rattle. Bearing in mind all the negative reviews and videos detailing breakdowns and repair delays I decided to get my money back before Amazon's thirty days were up.

A new lens needs to be much better than the existing one. That is the point of buying it. Nearly as good, or about the same just isn't good enough.

Sigma failed because of the lack of information they provide about themselves or their products. With such awful reviews they should have easy to find contact details and there should be instructional videos explaining to new customers how to get the best from their purchase.

Until I read that Sigma has sacked their entire board and started again I will avoid them.

Tested this on several camera's and I must say the aperture is very slow even at f3.5 and images were darker than they should of been. Item returned for a full refund as there are better lens for the same price or even cheaper.
