4.0 out of 5 stars The first 3D offering by the WWE and it is a Stone Cold Stunner, 24 Dec 2011

I will not begin this review by raving madly on about the games utter perfection. It is not perfect. Indeed it is far from perfect. But the fact that a game with so many wrestlers (42 to be exact, all well known past and present stars) so many options and HD graphics fits into the palm of your hand is astonishing. You really could be forgiven for thinking you were playing on a higher powered console. Entrances look great with wrestlers using signiture gestures and motions. The entrance music is the proper track rather than the dreadful dirge we used to get on other handhelds. it is clear crisp and adds to the atmosphere tremendously. The wrestling is reasonably fluid although it can slow down at times, especially when four wrestlers are in the ring at once. The controls whilst well thought out can at times feel a little awkward and cramped. however I did not find that this affected my play apart from occasionaly missing the odd move. The 3D looks okay but is rather subtle. It adds nothing and playing with it off extends the battery life considerably. There is no referee visible, knockouts often lead to a 3 count video during the celebration screen, there are no tag team intros, and the create a wrestler is terrible. But to hear the voice of Mean Jean Okerlund again is magnificent.
Let us bear in mind this is the very first wrestling game on the 3DS. This has set the benchmark and with any luck they will look to beat it with future games. Wrestling fans brace yourselves I think we are in for many treats to come over the next few years.

Great game,

Didn't know what to expect from this when I bought it, as I enjoy wrestling games (and even though wrestling isn't over realistic) I do still enjoy a bit of realism.

Realistic this is not. The moves are over the top, the body shapes on the wrestlers are cartoonish and overall its all a bit slapstick. (even though the WWE/WWF is renowned for that).

The graphics are good, some details could be better, the crowds and textures for example but all in all it looks nice and plays very smoothly. The 3D is a little lacking, could have used this better, like having wrestlers thrown at the screen, would have been amazing for example. The effects are top notch and the speed is spot on. Overall it looks very good on your little 3D handheld.

There are a good set of game modes, you have exibition, path of champions following your chosen wrestler against certain famous WWE/WWF wrestlers with a running story. The best of these though is the Fantasy Warfare mode. Who is the biggest superstar Hulk Hogan or John Cena? Well choose one and see if you can come out on top. Its a great idea and with a lot of choices, it really adds to the game. With standard one on one, tag team, Threeway, fourway, survival, hurricane tag, cage and hardcore match types there is plenty here.

Also one of my favourite things of wrestling games is back 'Create a wrestler'. If your all time favourite WWF/WWE star isn't present you van make them (to a certain degree). Or if your imagination is running wild, make yourself a new wrestler to take on the WWF/WWEs greatest superstars. Its easy to use with a lot of good options and offers something to do when you get a little bored with he game types.

Sadly multi-player isn't the best. Firstly their is no online multiplayer, which is a bad choice. Also there is only a two player mode, which seems strange as you can have four way bouts.

Two elements that don't make this a perfect portable wrestling experience is the KO rule and no backstage fighting.
Get your opponents health low enough and perform your finishing move and its game over for them. You don't even have to pin them yourself, it just shows you a video of your wrestler doing a showing off pin, which kind of makes the game feel like street fighter meets wrestling. You can pin yourself after a finisher but only if you haven't depleted your opponents health completely.
No back stage fighting means the arenas get a little boring and if it had have been there the game would have that little bit more longevity.

Overall this is a arcade wrestling experience with quite a lot going on. If you enjoy Wrestling/Beat em up games this game will give you hours upon hours of fun filled wrestling action.

Buy this game, because STONE COLD SAYS SO! Well he didn't actually but buy it anyway.

My son got this game for christmas and absolutely loves it! He finds some of the games a bit of a challenge but he seems to enjoy the challenge more than winning all the time.

Arrived in early (bonus, especially at christmas), and was presented and packaged fine.

actually game is great, I had much fun playing it, there are many wrestlers, many game modes, including my two favourite: fantasy battles and path of champions..game has many videos in single player mode, which is very good, because I only play single player games and only sometimes multiplayer.. game has better model graphics than Wii, game is smooth, pretty good controls..all DLC included and arcade feel with lots of special moves (each one has 3 I think), 3d isn't bad, but isn't anything special.. buy it, for a price that is it is bargain..

my three sons love this game. it is perfect for wwe fans. it includes current wrestling stars as well as classic superstars. my sons are slightly younger than 12 but found the game easy to control and follow. i have bought three of these because at 7 they are such outstanding value. wwe has now overtaken mario as a boys favourite in our home.
"BEST GAME EVER", "VERY, VERY, VERY GOOD", "ITS THE BEST BECAUSE YOU CAN PICK YOUR CHARACTERS AND WIN NEW ONES..." 3 quotes from 3 boys!!!
