I now have 10,000 names I know I definitely won't choose for my baby. For each letter of the alphabet there were only a handful what I would call 'normal' names. I appreciate that we live in a multi-cultured society but am not sure even the descriptions fully cover some of the 'names'. For example 'Caca' a name for a girl is described as being Latin, original mythological goddess of the hearth. This is perhaps the case but it also means 'poo' in french!

We used this book to help us decide on the name of our baby boy. Having found it hard enough to choose the name of our first baby we were really struggling to come up with a name. This book gave us some new ideas and finally the inspiration we were looking for to choose a final few names to mull over. Great value, easy to use and all the names/meanings you need to help you make that all important decision

Seemed like this would be a good book for helping us choose a name for our baby bump having 10,000 look through. Its full of unusual names and the more popular/ well known ones are scattered amongst them. As it happens we've chosen a name outside of this book, its not particularly unusual but its just not in this book, none of the spellings of it are.
This book would also be better if it told you how to pronounce some of the more unusual names - you could end up missing the perfect name because it isn't spelt how its said - an example is the name Caoimhe which is pronounced Kee-va.
I'd pass this book on to a friend but wouldn't tell anyone to buy it. There must be better books out there!

I must say I was quite disappointed with this book.
None of the names really stood out, and a vast amount of them seemed to be of Asian background.
Not very useful.

This book gave me and my husband, who had been trawling the internet for months, help to finally settle on a name for our little girl. It has huge lists of girls & boys names (with their meanings) and also gives some great advice - like don't listen to your relatives!

We bought this book to find some names for our babys, thinking out of 10.000 there should be one we like... but 10.000 names is just too many, and for the most of the names in there I wonder if they are really names. Seriously, I can't imagine parents name their child "U" so when you read through the book I would estimate that on a full site there is one name that you can identify as a name. Also for the few names we found the meaning and origin didn't seem to match with what we found on the internet..If you want to find a name for you child you are better off buying a name book that has less names in it and therefore maybe a more detailed description, origin or usage.

Thanks to this book we have got quite a few possible names for our baby which we are going to have to narrow down because there is so much choice in this book. I had got sick of trawling on the internet and just wanted to be able to sit down on the couch and go through names together and I bought this book purely due to the amount of names it boasts but I have got to say it's a really good book as it gives you the meanings for each name as well along with some helpful tips on choosing a name. It's got all of the 'traditional' names along with some of the newer and 'out there' ones as well. Plenty of choice and split into boys and girls names alphabetically.

This book was great it has lots of names of all ethnic backgrounds.
The names are in alphabetically with descriptions of each name & meaning including pronunciations, same sounding names, names that were pairs (ideal for twins), famous people's names, etc.
The only thing we found very hard was to make the decision for the babies names as we were spoiled for choice and I will recommend it and pass it on to my pregnant friends & famiy.

the title suggests a bounty of names to choose from however with names like Frigg for a girl there are so many that are unuseable and therefore not much choice

At the end we have choose our baby name from an internet web site instead of from a baby book. Now I gave this book to my friend whose about to give birth in a few months time...so guess I didn't waste my money completely! But gosh those 10,000 baby names not many are good at all.... I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Or just buy a copy from a secondhand book shop or Oxfarm would be good enough. Don't buy it new...you won't use it too many times especially....
