A well written account of all the Battles of World War 1.
All the information you could ever need except that there wasn't the personal stories in the book that I was looking for.
If you haven't read much on WW1 then this is a good book to start on.

This is a very good account of a fictionally person who saw service in the First World War, the fact and places are correct.
Its a good read. Buy it
As a guide in the WW1 Remembrance at Fort Widley Portsmouth it helps to have information.

I looked forward to reading this book with much anticipation only to find it a bit too concise and lacking in crucial detail.
The book is well written and descriptive.
Overall a good reference point for those that study the Great War

of a hideous period of history. It lacks the personal histories of the soldiers involved, but conveys the sheer horror of casualty lists - the human cost of the war.
This is a good place to start to understand the Great War.

As the title implies it is ideal for someone setting out to learn about the main events of WW1 and their sequence. It seemed to me to be a balanced view and gave some of the reasons for decisions made. I found it interesting.

Battles of World War I is a detailed study of the trench warfare along the Western Front and on Gallipli peninsula which decided the outcome of the first world war. Acclaimed historian Martin Marix Evans examines the use of the new and terrible weapons of war - Tthe machine gun, the hand grenade and the massed use of artillery - and how these were to decide the outcome of the war, while never forgetting the horrific human cost of these inovations.

While the style and the detail are very good, there is an emphasis on the overall tactics and battle statistics, but I would have preferred a more worms eye view of what it was like for the common soldier.

Great read and staggering casualty lists for these battles. Author knows his stuff and makes it very readable whilst getting important facts over at the same time.

I found this book very hard reading on Kindle, may be better as a book so can keep going back to map, (can't get it to work on Kindle). Still a good book though.

For a short precise cover of the major battles in the W W 1 it is compact but a good read. Would be
informative to a new student or reader of the W W 1
