Its all true.....quick quiet etc etc.

What they do not make clear in the product description, but thats in the instructions..... is that you have two different control methods.
1) Simply by adjusting the power input just like on a conventional hob, but obviously with instant response.
2) By temperature: you can select a temperature and it will maintain it by pulsing the power. Its a great feature, although let down just a little by only being able to set in 20c jumps (10c would have been great).

My gas hob at home is living on borrowed time....!

This cooker is not only excellent to cook with but great value for the money. I have a solid fuel Rayburn and it is too hot to cook on it in summer so this hob is just the thing. It is light easily portable and very heat controllable. Downside is you cannot use it with a non stick frying pan, however to avoid eggs sticking in my stainless steel frying pan I have purchased a piece of Bake-O-glide to put in bottom of pan.

Works well, heats quickly and efficiently. However, as others have noted, the temperature control is limited. Especially so at the lower end where the steps between 80-100-120 are particularly obvious. Pity as these things would be amazing for types of cooking that are dependent on precise temperature control. Seems to be standard for products in this price range though. Defaulting to 1800w when switched on is also a bit annoying. Controls are decent; clear and easy to grasp, perhaps a little slow to respond.

This cooker is very good and cooks well.
The reason for 4 stars. The controls could be simpler.
Never the less. I would buy again.

The temperature sensor measures the temperature at the interface between the hob and pot and cannot be relied upon to give the actual cooking temperature. To prevent scratching of the hob top by say a cast iron pot my tip is to place a sheet of paper under the pot. Do not do this with a non induction ceramic hob as the paper will catch fire.

Touch controls are great. However the 20deg temperature division is too wide. 10deg would be better.

Great, when it works.

Once you've cleared the first hurdle of induction compatible cookware, this hob cooks up a storm. It is so powerful be sure to site it on a surface with drainage because you wouldn't want the boil over to get into the vents underneath.

Sadly my first one died after 2 months with a flash while frying a steak, and the free replacement from Amazon lasted 3 months before dying too. This time I checked the plug fuse (13A, fine) and the internal fuse (soldered to the board, not fine). Shame, as this brand seems to be the most readily available under £100.

This hob gives efficient and controllable heat for cooking, so long as you resist the temptation to lift the pan, at which point it will switch off. The timer is very useful.
All the heat goes straight into the base of the pan and the response to changes in the power setting is instant. I would expect this type of hob to be more energy efficient than other types. Of course you have to have something in the pan to absorb the heat and you cannot try to put a high heat setting into a very small pan, otherwise the protection against overheating will kick in. The fan will continue to run for a short while after you have switched off the power. You also have to acquire the correct technique for operating the controls. You cover the circle with your thumb and then lift away, you do not push or just use the tip of your finger.
You do need to have pans with the proper magnetic base. It is possible to buy heat diffusers which will take a non-magnetic pan on top, but they will only cope with gentle heating at low power settings and will overheat if you do not have the pan on top, especially the smaller ones. This is because the hob will put heat into the diffuser much faster than the pan can absorb it. However, they could be very useful for delicate jobs that would otherwise require a bain-marie.
I think this is the most controllable source of cooking heat that is available. I am very glad that I bought it.

The hob kept us going whilst our new kitchen extension was built.

The hob is quick at heating up and easy to use. It is easy to clean and compact, so ideal for the small space left, when the kitchen was removed! Even though the new kitchen is now in place we still use this hob now and again, as it is so good.

We purchased this hob to supplement our gas Aga. It worked perfectly for 12 months and then something inside literally blew up. While using the item we heard a loud bang and it suddenly stopped working.
