The Job offer has been a brilliant read. I could not put the book (sorry, Kindle) down, it was so engrossing. Jennifer sounds like just a normal young lady looking for something a bit more worthwhile than shop-work. what she gets is out of this world (almost literally). A dark seedy underworld of strange creatures and death on every corner haunts her every step once she is introduced to the world of the man who recruited her, who himself is not what he seems.
I very much look forward to reading a sequel to this book and would happily pay to do so.

I enjoyed this quick read and have to echo the other reviews which say they were sorry when it ended. Its shorter than I thought as the last 10% is a sample of a sci-fi novel (not my thing) and which meant I read it in a couple of hours. It definitely comes across as if intended to be the first of a series, but it seems there is no "part two" as yet. I hope the author hasnt abandoned the fantasy genre as this is a really decent effort, despite a scattering of simple errors which careful proofreading would eradicate. I suppose its a YA read, but as a "mature" reader I found it an enjoyable, light novella and would read any future installments. I particularly appreciate the absence of a romance element, which seems to have become a tedious addition to much urban fantasy. Definitely worth a read. Note to author....."Please Sir, can I have some more?"

Actually it was quite an enjoyable read. It is a supernatural/paranormal story. A young woman is offered a job by a non human, what she doesn't realise is that she is more important than she realises. It needs some fine tuning here and there, but I can see it becoming a series. There were some minor glitches like missed words, but nothing major. It is a little slow to start off with and could do with being less descriptive in the first chapter. Then it shoots off like a greyhound at the races with one adventure after the other. I also think the male lead doesn't need to say Jen in every sentence he speaks to her, it makes the dialogue a tad stinted. It was more a 3.5 star, but I enjoyed the fun read, hence the four star rating.

This is a great short story and well worth a ready. For a short fantasy story the characters and the world are well defined and while the plot isn't highly origional it is involving and enjoyable. Bring on the sequal.

having read Edmond Barrett other two books 'The Nameless' Trilogy I bought this book in eager anticipation as he is a good writer with in depth storylines and characters.
'The Job offer' did not disappoint... until it got going just as we are got to Know Jen and Collin the book finishes. dead NOOOOOOO i want more.

this book is well written and engaging but the ending is too soon and abrupt.

that said I am on tenterhooks for the next installment... please tell me there is going to be a next installment.

Picked this up as an offer on kindle and happy I did..very happy to recommend this book, unlike quite a few I have read this book is an originally thought out addition to the urban fantasy genre, the main characters are easy to connect with and interesting, the pace is continuous with more revealed of the plot and characters throughout setting this book up to be the start of an excellent series..a few typos mar at times but with a touch of refinement this could be excellent, enjoyed and would like to read more!

Well after enjoying the Nameless war book one, I thought I would have a look at the Job Offer. Wow, glad I did, completely different in style to the other work, this is romp! I would love to read more though, just as your settling into the book proper it goes and ends! However it is left wonderfully open to further installments, I just hope the Author comes back to continue the adventure.

After reading the Nameless first two books I picked up the Job Offer because I enjoyed the writing style.

Good story, fast paced after the initial warmup and plenty of scope for future installments.

I will definitely be looking out for more of his work.

very fun read, enjoyed the lead characters and the plot, just enough to wet the appetite - hears hoping we get some more stories involving collin and jennifer and all the other interesting characters Mr Barrett's mind can think up.

Loved this even more than his Nameless books. I really do think that this could/should be the start of a longer book or series of books. As always, well written and novel ideas.
