Cheap but not so cheerful.

This is not a bad lens but it's not particularly good either. OK, this is a bit of a bargain lens and it's surprisingly sharp from 55mm to it's full 210mm but it's a slow focussing lens. At 210 and in fairly dull light outdoors, it struggles to focus at anywhere from 150-210mm. It will focus but it's painful to watch it slowly resolve as your subject moves off. Maybe my lens is a dud but I doubt it.
I use this lens with a Sony A6000 but I also have a Nikon D5300 with a Nikon 55-300mm lens for comparison. Although I prefer the Sony A6000 as a camera, the Nikon 55-300 is a much better lens for autofocus. The Nikon is also considered a bit of a budget lens.
Sony don't have any decent long telephoto lenses except for the very expensive Sony 70-200 f4 lens. What a shame! Get your act together Sony!
