4.0 out of 5 stars Necessary rebuttal
It saddens me that this book had to be written.

The original Spirit Level book showed that inequality of income and wealth was at the root of society's ills once income reached a reasonable level. After that equality mattered more than pushing up the average GDP per person statistic.

The book made sense and for those left of centre, supported their...

5.0 out of 5 stars Of course socialists want more of other people's money, 31 Dec 2010

(REAL NAME)
Socialism is all about the urge to equalise born out of envy, instead of getting off your own arse to do something about it yourself. They call for higher taxes, yet I have never met the socialist who unilateraly volunteered his own money first. If you think that's how society should be organised, may I suggest a spell in Cuba or North Korea until you come to your senses.

5.0 out of 5 stars socialism and it's manifest failure, 31 Dec 2010
You know what's in here - clear facts that support free trade, individuals, wealth creation, equality of opportunity, equality under the law, freedom, diversity etc.....and how trendy socialism which cannot survive with these basic human freedoms is seductive, destructive, murderous and cold - except for elites/politburo members where it's very nice indeed and allows division of society into good guys who are put in cheap tenements and bad guys who are shot.
