TOP 500 REVIEWERon 9 December 2011
For some mysterious reason this marvellous session by The Tony Fruscella & Brew Moore Quintet had been gathering dust in ATLANTIC's vaults since its recording in 1954.
The East Coast trumpeter, Tony Fruscella and Lester Young-influenced tenorist Brew Moore complement one another beautifully and are aided by a sympathetic rhythm section of Bill Triglia(piano), Teddy Kotick(bass) & Bill Heine(drums). The 12 relaxed, swinging and subtle tracks are mostly variations on blues and there are 2 bonus tracks by the Stan Getz Quintet with Tony Fruscella recorded in 1955.
This is one of the most exciting jazz releases of 2011 and deserves a place in any jazz collection.

As our First Reviewer commented, this Gem has finally surfaced thanks to Fresh Sound Records, who have delivered the goods again! I read about this session many years ago and expected it would be interesting - Having heard it at last, it has proved to be up to 'My Expectations'.
If you like "Cool East Coast Bop" - Possibly a contradiction in terms - but I feel it's as good a description as any ! Then don't wait any longer,
Buy It !
