I was looking to replace my windscreen mounted holder for my phone as it keeps falling off in the hot weather. I found this and purchased it mainly because it's really cheap and the high star reviews were encouraging. I didn't expect it to be as good as it is!!

The box and packaging is a bit cheap and when I opened it I was fearing the worst. However the actual product is really well made considering this cost me just £3. The arms are held in place with a button which when pressed the arms open automatically but smoothly. You then put your phone in and simply push the arms back. The holder rotates as you would expect and you can lock the rotation, but I don't think you need to as the mechanism is really well made and feels solid. It's easy to rotate but still holds in place.

If I were to say anything slightly bad is that it's tricky to remove but I don't intend to so I've not marked it down for that. I think with some practice you'd find the best way.

Finally, it does not come with instructions, but you'd only need them if you can't put a Kinder egg toy together! It's 4 parts in total: 2 clips that fit into a base and the main holder which connects to the base. Push the clips on to the vents. Position the support as needed. Done.

UPDATE: October 2012
During the first few days of using this item I did break one of the arms while trying to remove it. However I'm still using it now as it still holds in place, although a little wobbly. If you need to remove it often I'd probably consider something else.

I was thinking of a 4 star review but just thinking that I paid 3 pounds for that holder, I easily changed my mind to a 5 star.
On and Off setup at the air ventilation is not that simple but still gives a solid hold for a range of phones.
When you use small (thin to be precise) phones like Galaxy SII it looks quite bulky but the overall quality is outstanding.
There are definitely better holders out there but I doubt that you can find something similar for 3 pounds

I would highly recommend it for someone who uses the holder either occasionally or doesn't mind leaving the holder there permanent.

The Good:

The Bad:
- It lasted less than 3 months before it broke

Poor quality!!! Spend some extra money and buy a better one, it fall apart after 2 weeks, not happy at all.

well I'm not sure if its just the way my air vents are in the car but I couldn't get it to stay in for the life of me. One of the arms managed to click in but then it came off the actually phone holder and is now till this day stuck in my air vent. The phone holder is now holding on by one arm and it is impossible to get out of the vent without snapping something. But once you get it to stay put its not that bad, just dont plan to take it out. holds my phone/ipod in securely but it took a lot of potching to get it in.

Looked like good value for money when it arrived. I fitted it into my VW Golf. Sadly it broke on my first journey. Im not sending it back, I will just put it down to experience. You get what you pay for.

This product is great value for money.

Adjustable to suit different phone sizes and covers, rotates to suit different views of phone and fits together easily and keeps the phone snug.

Clips onto my corsa which has circular vents no problem. Took a couple of attempts to work out how to attach so it rested at the right angle without dropping but once sorted its great.

You CAN take off the vent quite easily once attached, just take your time and figure it out! Not difficult at all. Definitely worth £3.
Only downn side is it is not completely secure to the car so does 'jiggle' a bit but really not noticable if using with hands free or to select music!

Sadly the holder does not hold the iPhone 3gs in the horizontal. The only way to do so forces the iPhone into a really tight position which makes the "Power Button" active and thus asking to shut down the device...
Broke after two weeks of use!
Sad little thing! no quality at all!

I opened the package to find one sliding arm had snapped off, so a waste of money sad really as having recently purchased another one I had expected better.

Arrived in good time. Looked like a tranformers toy, bit cheap and bulky. Came with no instructions for assembly however took seconds to work out and put together. Held my samsung galaxy ace phone securely however, did not fit the vents on my 2005 Ford Fiesta so will be returning product.
