5.0 out of 5 stars Great Atmospheric Album
This is one of the few soundtracks I have on repeat, I find it something of a masterpiece. The music creates an an emotive, intriguing, slightly spooky and yet subtle atmosphere for the listener; a perfect compliment to the film, and a soundtrack I hope Le Carré is proud of.

How can you release four fifths of a movie soundtrack? As haunting and evocative as this music is, wonderful music. To leave out the songs was a big mistake and should be rectified forthwith with a full re-release including "Le mer". 4.0 out of 5 stars "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy ... Alberto Iglesias ... Silva Screen Records (2011) (4.5 stars rating)", 22 Nov. 2011

Silva Screen Records LTD presents "TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY" [Soundtrack], the score is by the celebrated composer Alberto Iglesias ... Oscar Nominated for Original Score The Constant Gardener (2005) and Original Score The Kite Runner (2007) -- and the list could go on, very accomplished film score composer.

Mesmerizing undertones of jazz, with light piano fingering gives this an almost dreamlike film sequence. One reviewer mentions central elements of Jerry Goldsmith (The Russia House), which is one of my favorite scores from Maestro Goldsmith. But, listen to the strings and counter melodies that extrude into the bleak air of the night.

Iglesias is right on with each track ... one can only hope this will receive some recognition for a mention in the award department.

This is one of those soundtracks/scores that you can play and listen with your conscious or subconscious, while reading a book or just under winding after a hard day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Film not so great but the soundtrack............., 28 Nov. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Loved the book and the original BBC adaptation of the story by John le Carre but found the film remake totally dissapointing, stellar cast but terrible direction and the only thing that saved it for me was this beautiful, haunting soundtrack. There is a running motif through all the pieces using a spanish guitar which I have not been able to get out of my head! the soundtrack is evocative and haunting, bitter sweet, jazzy and I have been listening to it solidly for 3 days now! in fact , I even want to sit through the film again just to experience the beauty of it :)

If you saw the film and even quite liked the soundtrack, buy it and play it in the car and you will be swept away.

4.0 out of 5 stars moody trip, 26 May 2012

I bought this item after falling in love with the movie and its nostalgic sound. The music is excellent per se, although I miss the songs that added a certain atmosphere and style, and they are not included. This is a very satisfying hearing, creating a moody atmosphere that works perfectly itself. Yet there are moments, as in many osts, when you get a feeling of slight repetition.

I have always liked this story since the TV series and this film is a very good interpretation.
The acting is first class for this complex story and the image quality is good.
