4.0 out of 5 stars Astounding book
A good read which starts in similar fashion to many of Ranulph's other non-fiction titles.
The opening leaves a questioning doubt over the stories origins. Is it fiction or non-fiction? Not having conclusively got an answer prior to picking up this book, it finishes with a first person account in the final part, one is left feeling little doubt that this is a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a book that grabs the reader.
The Book is okay but is easily put down, the sort of book that you can dip in and out of and not be concerned about losing the plot.

In short good book from an inspiring author, which I recommend a read before the movie comes out. Surely hollywood cannot do this justice?

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of Killer Elite, 3 Feb 2013

Originally entitled 'The Feather Men', they are a group of people dedicated to protecting ex-army/SAS colleagues. Another group, hired assassins called the Clinic, are slowly but surely taking out a succession of heroic soldiers who all have a common link. Based on Sir Ranulph's own time in the SAS and subsequent service in Oman, this gripping story is packed with realistic detail and local colour. And with a completely unexpected twist at the end it leaves one deeply impressed with Sir Ranulph's story-telling ability. Another feather in his incredible cap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Killer Book, 20 April 2012

This is a re-release of the epic book "The Feather Men" under a new title. I don't know why but the original isn't in print any more. I haven't seen the film "Killer Elite" but from reading the reviews it only seems to have a passing resemblance to the book.

Any way, the book is a fine read and Ranulf Fiennes includes a lot of fine detail that only somebody who has "read the book, ate the pie" would know. It is a classic tale of revenge with a good twist at the end that makes you wonder whether it is fiction or real.

Hats off for an enjoyable read.

I originally read this book when titled 'The Feather Men'. An amazing read and should be read by anyone that is interested in the SAS and clandestine operations.

Very entertaining book, exceptionally well written and thoroughly enjoyable. Ranulph Fiennes delivers such an exciting tale that one can't quite believe it's all real, despite the denials of the authorities!

I have enjoyed all of his books so far - fact or fiction. The hook within this book is that it could be either which I am certain the author intended.
I would encourage you to read his non fiction works to see just how strong minded and resourceful this explorer is.

I read this book as a Hard Back many years ago when it was published as The Feather Men. Just a story? I thought so until I came across the name of a man I served with in the Oman. HEALTH WARNING. This book does not follow the film script, it is a well deserved reprint of the Feather Men. Well worth a read.
