5.0 out of 5 stars good value mid-range laptop
Bought this mostly for using on the train, it's a good size for that. This laptop is a good all-round machine - decent amount of memory, reasonably quick, fairly solid, average battery life. I think you'd struggle to find a better laptop for the price.

One final note - I replaced the hard drive with an SSD and that improved the performance significantly, boots...

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware
In brief I have not had much luck with Toshiba laptops as this is the third one I have owned that has failed prematurely. With regards to this particular model it failed one month outside warranty. I have since read several forums where people have had hdd failure in the first six months.(this seems to be the most common fault but sadly for me not the only thing wrong...

A great little laptop that boots fast (if you select fast boot, which i suggest to the other reviewer) I have used mine for rendering CAD drawings. battery life is fair, but id suggest getting the 12 cell upgrade if you are travelling alot. Also may want to try the SDD for ultra fast boot and shutdowns. all in all, would highly recommend.

Aside from the hardware faults it also is surprisingly heavy.

One more point, all literature provided with the model I purchased stated it had a hdmi port, which mine did not.

This laptop is very slow booting up and the battery runs out
In about 2 hours. Do not use Internet explorer or you will be waiting all week
to go online ! ! !
