BRILLIANT SHOW BY LINDSAY BUCKINGHAM !
on 2 November 2011
I've always been a big fan of Lindsay Buckingham, from his days with John Stewart and of course Stevie Nicks. He is still a member of supergroup Fleetwwd Mac.He's also produced some very fine solo albums including this years most under rated one in 'Seeds We Sow', a collection of new songs played and swung by him. Live we get a chance to see him in the UK at the end of this year, and if it's half as good as this set rrom earlier this year then we are in for a treat. For this show in LA we get live versions of songs from the new albums plus ones from Fleetwood Mac's back catalogue, most of which Lindsay wrote anyway. Two plus hours beginning with five acoustic solo songs by a guitarist of immense talent, then his three piece band joins him, then he signs the show with a solo version of the title song from the new album.I should think this is very much the show we get on the current tour. The hugely original produced Fleetwood smash hit 'Tusk' gets a simpler styling with LB beginning on solo guitar before the band comes in,and it works and sounds so fresh in this version,no marching bands or anything but four great musicians taking it along. Also from Mac's back catalogue we get'Never Going Back Again', 'Big Love','Second Hand News' and 'Go Your Own Way' all sounding as good as they ever did. Add to these songs from his own solo releases as well, plus a bonus CD containing most of the performances on the DVD,not all because of the shows length. We also get a very interesting interview with him about his career, his influences, those he's created music with through the years, very interesting it is too! The DVD is filmed in HD so looks superb, the sound is crystal clear. If you've not listened to Lindsay's solo work this a fabulous rlace to start. If your a fan this is as good as it gets.A quality and highly enjoyable release by one of the finest singer/songwriter/musicians there are. Get a copy or put it on that Christmas list, one of the best music DVD releases of 2011 as far as IU am concerned.
