5.0 out of 5 stars Kicking up a Storm
A fantastic recount of Oasis 1997 amongst the madness of the Be Here Now tour. This book has everything that is lacking from the uneventful `Lord Don't Slow Me Down' documentary and I finished this over a few days.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not His Best Oasis Book
Having read his previous book about 'Oasis" called 'Getting High: Adventures of "Oasis"', I was left slightly disappointed by this, as it didn't really cover any new and almost seemed to go against a lot of what he wrote about in the first book.

I also noticed that some of the facts seemed to be wrong (like talking watching DVD's 2 years before they...

Paolo Hewitt's day by day description of events are easy to read and despite his close relations with the band (though mainly Noel) he provides a balanced review of Oasis.

I'm a diehard Oasis nut - I downloaded the sample - read it - loved it and made the purchase. I'd recommend all Oasis fans to skip straight to the purchase as this is an excellent bargain of a book.

For passive Oasis fans I'd highly recommend getting the sample and I'd be surprised if you didn't think it was worth less than 2.

Overall = 5 Stars!

I also noticed that some of the facts seemed to be wrong (like talking watching DVD's 2 years before they were invented)

The first book is a great read, this... take with a pinch of salt.

This book is an account of the fast paced haze of touring with Oasis at the height of their fame in the late Nineties. The album Be Here Now had just been released and even though the public loved them the critics and media were out to get them.

Throughout the book we glimpse snatches of conversation and moments inbetween the shows, travelling between hotels and criss-crossing the globe. There's always drinking, fights and the threat of the band imploding.

For me the thing lacking is more detail into the actual live shows, for example showing set lists so fans can appreciate the subtle changes in the concert that the group were performing day in, day out. Even though Paolo Hewitt spends a lot of time with the group there's a feeling that he's still an outsider and we never really glimpse the true people behind Oasis.

To summarise this is a quick dip into the hectic life of a British touring super group. I enjoyed the book but once it was finished I wanted to find something with more depth about Oasis.

I've been looking for this book for years and wasn't disappointed. Fascinating insight into a band struggling not to implode at the height of their success. A must for any oasis fan.
