I bought the first season of an idiot abroad on DVD after watching the Ricky Gervais show and getting my first taste of Karl Pilkington, you soon come to realise that whether intentional or not every single word that comes out of Karl's mouth is absolutely hilarious and its not selective comedy everybody can enjoy it, my mum my Nan my girlfriend and all work colleagues agree. when the second season came out (I don't have sky so I'm a bit behind from my colleagues) I knew it was going to be worth owning at home, since buying the first season I invested in a Blu Ray player and 47" Flat screen HD TV so I bought this Blu ray box set instead, I started watching the second season last night when it arrived, complete laugh fest literally had to turn it off to stop my ribs hurting anymore, the views of the landscape are honestly breath taking for example the first episode has a shot where they flew over a volcano with a zoomed in shot on the swirling lava was amazing, but what really made HD Blu Ray worth it for me was truly being able to see the fear in Karl's eyes, so much that I actually felt like I was there the tension builds and you can feel the fear like a man about to lose control.. Truly amazing, if you haven't watched or/and bought this yet do it now.. You won't be disappointed.

Some comedians are funny on stage and make a good living being funny but in real life, in reality, they just aren't that funny, Karl is simply funny all the time, if you like/d this also check out The Ricky Gervais Show Season 1 and his multiple publications.

My father is fussy with his comedy, he watched this on sky and I bought it for him for Christmas and he watches it over and over. Karl is brilliant better than his mate Ricky Gervais.
I never get tired of watching this.

The idiot in this rather excellent travelogue is ricky gervais.. ,such a pretentious tit, He sends Karl on these travels to belittle Carl only for carl to reveal to all that these 7 wonders are really just hyped up tourist traps. The great wall of China, the tourist sees is a rebuilt great wall, the real wall is an unkempt ruin..
Don't waste thousands of £s going to visit these places watch this DVD or Bluray. Ignore Gervais' snide comments about Karl , Karl tells us the way it is, the way you or I would see it & most of it is pretty carp! If you went on one of these trips that Gervais & his yicker friend send Karl on you'd be very grateful to be back home again and as much as I might cuss the UK, it ain't that bad.! If BBC are looking for real presenter for "Holiday 2013" Karl is the man for that job!
PS a little bit of tourist hype.. the Little Mermaid statue in copanhagen.. on a cruise, stopped in copenhagen, bused off to see the city which includes stopping to see the statue of the little mermaid... it's about 10" tall (or so it seemed), just really... 'big deal'. Never have I heard so many "Is that it"s in such close succession. But look at the web sites & it's made out to be a wonder of some kind! Tourist hype.

This is one of my favorite shows of all time. There's a lot of debate going on about whether Karl's character is fake or not, but even if he is this is one of the most well acted, brilliant shows I've ever seen. This show defines the "fish out of water" concept and expands it. The PQ and AQ are amazing, making this one of the most beautiful Blu-rays out there. And for 10£, you really can't go wrong.

Cheers.

Series 1 excellent and genuinely funny with one liners and antics we would come to expect and relate to from a fellow mancunian. Season 2 , The locations and cultural highlights were great but I feel that karl was kind of put on a leash and didn't really look like he was discovering and enjoying the experience in the same way which is why most of the comments and lines were kind of petty and forced as if he needed to say something despite not having much to say over a series of scenes. I don't think the two clowns really helped to be honest by giving him ridiculous and tedious tasks which were never really funny or entertaining to do and watch and I think karls attitude to half of them and lack of involvement also summed up how he thought about it , Karl only really started getting back to his normal self towards the end of season 2. Overall it was an interesting watch and funny mostly because of season 1 but season 2 loses novelty quickly and doesn't do anything to be worth a watch again.

Having seen a few episodes on TV and finding them absolutely hysterical I thought I may aswell by the boxset for both series and I do not regret it one bit, this TV show is pure comedy gold!! The great thing is you also get too see these wonderful places that Karl is sent (yes he paints most of them in a negative light but the viewer can see for themselves what these places are like), too me this makes this show even better.

I also like the fact that Ricky Gervais is not as overbearing in the show as I thought he might be, as in not as involved apart from the occasional phone call too Karl while he's away. All the bits that involved Ricky, Stephen & Karl were absolutely priceless, the review shows are a particular favourirte of mine at the end of each series!!

All in all it is hhighly reccommended that people purchase this and enjoy the wonder that is Karl Pilkington, this is a character that is too good to be made up!!

I had never seen the tv programme and bought this for my son for christmas as he lives abroad. We watched the first disc on christmas day and laughed so much (despite any alcohol) - it was a great buy and we learned things too which helped with the trivial pursuits game the next day!

An idiot abroad is a fantastically funny series, so funny in fact, I ordered it for my parents and my parents in law. The only downside was the delivery from Zoverstocks. In the past. As with Amazon, deliveries have been faultless and on time, but since the beginning of 2014, I have found Amazon and Zovetsocks have been awful, with things taking far longer than they should, Amazon logistics playing knock and run and thins item not arriving at all. Upon re ordering this same item, then another a week later, it was only when I enquired it's whereabouts when I believe that it was dispatched, as it arrived on the same day as the second item, ordered some time later. Be aware when ordering this brilliant box set, that you may be waiting some time for it to arrive, if at all and totally disregard "dispatched" emails.
5 star dvd. 1 star service.
