I bought the Mac Mini on the week of it's release through the Apple Store. This is my first Mac.

After a slight problem with set up, I am pretty sure that you cannot set up OSX with only a keyboard and trackpad but after I connected a mouse into the computer I was able to set up the operating and start with using the thing.

I use a HDMI connection, connecting the Mac Mini to my LG TV, I really don't recommend using HDMI with the Mac Mini as this gave me a lot of problems, it wasn't outputting full HD. I hate high quality cables and I was only outputting something ridiculous. The colours were awful and I didn't appreciate what I was getting. I bought a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and this massively improved HDMI connectivity. Finally I could watch my iTunes collection in full HD which I was pleased.

The thing is super quiet, in fact I don't hear it at all and I'm only 16, so I have good hearing. Even when under a bit of pressure. I was converting a bunch of massive video files using Handbreak, I was very impressed with the speed the Sandy Bridge processor is a massive improvement and it's now rivalling my i5 8GB PC. Although I haven't video editing on this thing I am happy with the speed of the occasional Photoshop usage and heavy internet usage.

The Mac Mini is mostly being used as a Media Centre and "Mini Cloud". This currently serves media to all my iOS devices as well as the Apple TV downstairs. All this works perfect thanks to iTunes.

What you get in the box is quite minmal to be honest, something Apple is keeping to which something I don't quite like. Though it is still pretty amazing that this is a fully fledged desktop.

Some may worry that it doesn't have an optical drive inside, you could instead install your own HDD which is possible, thanks to iFixit although I am pretty sure this voids your warranty. I haven't done this myself but I do know that it's an easy job to do. Apple's serviceability does annoy me a lot because I think it's pathetic that the only thing I can change is the RAM. Not excited about that.

When the release of the Mac Mini came out, I was concerned over the graphics. I have tried to do some gaming on it, it's quite hard to do this because OSX is definitely not the OS to be gaming on. If you want to game, you get a Windows PC. I tried a few games on the store and I wasn't impressed at all. I was getting pretty poor framerate on a lot of games. I struggles with Black Ops and only just handles COD4. Obviously if you just going to play the occasional Flight Control or Angry Birds, both I have using a TrackPad, then the Mac Mini is fine.

Using your own keyboard and mouse is fine, though if it's wireless you will most likely need drivers to get your stuff going, wired is the way forward if you are going to bring your own hardware.

The Operating System is great. As a Windows user it took a bit of time to get used to it. I don't quite understand how Apple can justify this to be the most amazing OS ever by adding Mission Control but whatever Apple.

Overall, the Mac Mini is a fantastic desktop computer though quite expensive if you look at Windows alternatives. The mac Mini can also be a great Media hub despite all the Tech Blogs disagreeing.

Caused early problems as it was not new. But with help from the Mac Centre which came free as part to the apple backup, the computer is absolutely fine and one of the best you could buy. It is small, quick, reliable and efficient just as you would expect from Apple.

Having used a windows machine since 1995, I have finally taken the step to purchase one of these. Overall very pleased! Summary below

Good points
- Extremely compact
- Lightning fast
- Silent as a mouse
- Runs smoother than any windows pc I have ever had.
- Surprisingly all of the apps I wanted to install were available for mac also.
- Compatible with my old wireless keyboard and mouse (which I used on windows)
- Hooked up to my old VGA LCD monitor (need to buy a vga adapter). Fiver on ebay or 20 odd pounds in maplin..
- HDMI out, hooks up to my tv easily if you want to use it as a net top.

Bad points(not many but..)
- A standard mouse works, but experience with a track pad would be even better. These need to be purchased separately.
- Speakers built in but they are slightly better than my ipad.
- Price. but you pay for the brand also..

Purchased Mac Mini to replace old PowerMac G5. New machine plugged straight into existing cinema display monitor (via HDMI to DVI converter included in package), was a piece of cake to set up and migrate files across.

Pleased with performance so far. Suspect that a memory upgrade may be needed at some point, but no complaints about performance at the moment.

As with everything Apple, it's a thing of beauty and very user friendly. A joy to come home to after a day working with PCs.

Great price and fast delivery. This is my first Mac and I am so glad I bought it. Once you get a monitor, keyboard and mouse it's cheaper (and in my opinion) better than an equivalent Windows PC.

Seems good so far. Generally intuitive in use but, as is usual for Apple Mac. well over priced. Perhaps I'll be more impressed after longer use.
