Unlike most listeners Two Hunters wasn't my favorite WITTR album. Black Cascade was. I loved the sheer rawness of it, the epic melodies and the experimentation here & there (as far as i've seen nobody mentioned anything about the "black metal gone dub" ending of Ahrimanic Trance). Despite all that, i have to admit that their new album is probably their best effort today. The black metal metal parts blend perfectly with the ambient/new age/experimental ones maybe for the first time. The songs seem more realised and really well written and the production is extremely good but without getting rid of the dirtiness. Everything's in place and the album ends in a way that can be compared to the ending of Stones from the sky the last track of Neurosis' A sun that never sets. Really. To make it brief i believe that this is the album that puts WITTR in the big league and i don't mean big black metal league. They may still are too black metal for non black metal followers or too alternative for black metallers but this works clearly in their favour now. If you are into ANY kind of extreme/experimental/noisy rock buy this and you won't be disappointed.

This the third album from Wolves In The Throne Room in many ways distill their unique brand of 'astral black metal'. Slow, infectious drones, psychedelic wah-wah guitars, mystical synth interludes, guttural growls, blast beats and on 3 tracks the beautiful voice of Jessika Kenney. Nathan Werner (guitar, synths)keep widening his instrumental pallete while brother Aaron turns out a varied performance on the drums, mixing the blasts with more conventional drumming.

The vison and the scope of this magnificent album is broad and they certainly infuse the blackness with a deep sense of spirituality and Light. Making this a strangely uplifting experience. Connecting the soul of the listener with deep realms of shamanistic wisdom. No doubt reflecting the outspoken ecological awareness of the band.

A musical masterpiece with a deeper message for any listener with an open mind.

This is actually the fourth album from WitTR.....(12 Stars, 2 Hunters, Black Cascade, Celestial Lineage)...however, I'll agree with you that it's a very impressive album to say the least. Two hunters is still sentimentally my favorite by the brothers, and Black Cascade quickly wore out its welcome and is now a snoozefest for me.

I was really hoping they'd bring back the ambient experimentation of 2 Hunters back in the future, and they certainly did, along with a few other surprises.

Record of the here so far for me, considering the new Opeth was a complete shock to the system, the new Mastodon isn't looking to top their last, and the new Leviathan isn't out until November.

Highly recommended for anyone into the USBM scene.....or fresh black metal in general.

Abosultely amazing, and a must for all fans of WITTR. Though for me it did not have the atosphere of Black Cascade or Two Hunters, it is still very good. With seven tracks instead of four, it is a nice change from the previous records, though the extra three tracks are only instrumentals. Overall, a very good album.
