5.0 out of 5 stars Very creepy
The minute I discovered `Badlands', I instantly had my perceptions warped. Rockabilly heard through the jaws of hell? A psychotic voice calling out amidst the clanging repetition, repetition, repetition? What kind of album is this?

The answer is less mysterious than you would believe. Dirty Beaches is the one-man project of Alex Zhang Hungtai, a Taiwanese-born...

2.0 out of 5 stars Badlands.........bad purchase
It is not that I do not like the CD, it is just, it was such a massive disappointment. I have seen many of his videos on You Tube and they are all classics in his own perculiar way and they seem to add atmosphere to his recordings, unforuntately, exactly what is missing on this CD. It is about time Dirty Beaches releases the video and recording of 'White Sand' to remedy...

The minute I discovered `Badlands', I instantly had my perceptions warped. Rockabilly heard through the jaws of hell? A psychotic voice calling out amidst the clanging repetition, repetition, repetition? What kind of album is this?

The answer is less mysterious than you would believe. Dirty Beaches is the one-man project of Alex Zhang Hungtai, a Taiwanese-born Canadian musician, who like to use really old samples and distorted effects to achieve his distinctly retro-sounding music. In fact, his sound is so "retro", it seems to be coming from a really damaged tape from the 1950s. This adds to the chilling atmosphere of `Badlands'.

It's the sort of album James Dean would have loved. Enough said.

Ha ha, sneaking up on you and taking over your very soul, the dirty guitar and Crampy riffs coupled with Suicide-identi-kit vocals... lovely stuff.

You cannot help but love it!

This is an excellent album, I really love Lord Knows Best. His music sounds like a death Elvis riding on his mystery train...
