5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
Loved reading about cases from years ago, plus more up to date ones. Some very interesting facts I didn't know, especially about the Marilyn Monroe murder.

3.0 out of 5 stars A somewhat diverse stylistic hotchpotch
A collection of 36 true crime cases, all by different authors. Individually, they rate between 1 star and 4 stars. It is a hotchpotch of styles, ranging from the highly journalistic to the semi-fictional. If you like crime fiction, then you will appreciate this book a lot more than hardened true crime lovers. All these accounts/stories were written some considerable time ago (20 to 100 years ago) and do often suffer from rather dated literary styles. But the real problem is the diversity of styles presented. However, there are some interesting cases, some little known as well as the highly infamous; most still remain "unsolved". Interestingly, the best well known cases are the best presented, but some are fascinating less because of the crime and more for the people/circumstances surrounding them. Others will take you from certain guilt to questionable, if not considerable doubt. On the other hand, several cases bored me rigid. Overall, worth a read (it's a thick book)for the money, though I would advise picking it up cheap (second hand), as I did.
