4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining
Just read this book this afternoon whilst flying home. Great little read, really enjoyed the way the tales all linked around the wine bottle. Will now read more from this author. Thank you for a very pleasant read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Plonk
I quite enjoyed this series of short stories. I don't often get on with short stories as I tend to find they end unsatisfactorily for me, however I didn't have that problem with this collection as each story followed on from the next as the bottle was passed on. I like a series that intertwines and this was enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars An exceptional bottle of plonk, 17 Nov 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: A Bottle of Plonk (Paperback)
This lively and exciting novella takes the reader into the living rooms of ordinary households, where we discover that they are anything but ordinary. Jacquelynn Luben has very cleverly integrated the progress of a bottle of wine from one social event to another with the lives of the people we meet along the way. All these people are linked by the wine but the transition from one situation to another is seamless. We discover that a superficially normal world is full of secrets and lies, intrigues, humour and tragedy. And what happens to the wine in the end? Now that would be telling! One of the most original and enjoyable reads I’ve come across for a long time.

2.0 out of 5 stars this was weird, 12 Mar 2012
This review is from: A Bottle of Plonk (Kindle Edition)
it was was annoying because it's basically the journey of a bottle of wine. an its not really even that because the wine is hardly even in the story. i got this for free but i wouldn't pay for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Read!, 13 Nov 2008

I thoroughly enjoyed traveling along with the wine as it made its way into and out of the homes and lives of Luben's interesting cast of characters. From the moment that Julie Stanton headed out the door, bottle in hand, until all was said and done, that simple bottle of plonk journeyed seamlessly from place to place while its temporary owners got on with the business of living.

A fun and easy read, yet the story never fails to entertain. I'd highly recommend curling up with this one on a lazy afternoon.

This book is a real page-turner. We follow the ups and downs of a bottle of wine as it moves through the lives of a linked group of people, giving us an insight into their diverse stories and interconnections. It'll make you laugh and it'll also make you cry. A definite recommendation. I look forward to Luben's next book with interest.

4.0 out of 5 stars Drink from this bottle, 14 Jan 2008
This review is from: A Bottle of Plonk (Paperback)
An ingenious and page-turning read. The author has created a written version of "La Ronde" but updated to present day mores. A first-rate read if you are looking for romance with sharp edges or worthwhile comment on widely varying relationships.
