Great example of you get what you pay for.
I had an electric rechargeable auto head BaByliss trimmer before and it was a delight. The battery packed in a week after the 1 year warranty was up and decided I didn't want to spend £70 a year on a trimmer so thought I'd give this cheaper one a go as it had fairly decent reviews.
I have quite thick hair and all I wanted to use this for was a 1.5mm trim on my "designer stubble beard" and blend it into my sideburns with maybe a 2.5mm.
The base that it comes with is decent enough for storing the cleaner and the trimmer, the rest don't seem like they belong. Changing the heads is easy enough but the actual trimmer does feel very cheap. The performance of the trimmer is not great at all.
The 1.5mm was no way a 1.5mm smooth cut all over. There were patches with longer hair and no matter how much I went over my beard, it was cutting more hair with every pass so god knows how many passes you need to get an even cut. My beard probably kept growing back in the time it took me to do a pass on one side which could explain why I could never get an even cut with this.
I will say, however, my hair is as thick as superman's and the blades did not catch once.
The BaByliss I had before (I think it was the i-stubble) would take me 2 mins top for an even cut all over, this machine took me around about 15 mins... after which the supplied batteries went flat and required changing.
I regret spending even a tenner on this as I will look to purchase a different one and bin this when I get a new one.
