Rather than applying a non-adjustable limit to the volume Sony should have an option in the settings to remove such limit for people that require the volume higher, everybody's hearing is different.
Its a bit on the faulty side, but I'm sticking with my Sony NWZ-A818 as the volume has not been limited. And as for going with Apple, I'm very surprised to see the cheap rock, pop, jaz etc settings and not a fully adjustable equalizer like Sony units have. Apple iPods have no bass and too much treble making the sound tinny.
