A strange one this. It largely duplicates "the best" of what is already out on the Cafe Europa Box set but adds an extra 7 tracks which are the "movie" versions of Frankfurt Special, Pocketfull of Rainbows etc. In fact these 7 tracks are really rather nice and I would have to concede that they are worth forking out £7 for them even if you have the Europa Box. It's stange though that the Memphis Recording Service boys have also included 5 "masters" on an album that is sold as "alternate". Finally there is a rather cute picture of Juliette Prowse bending over on the cover and I do take back what I said about her in my Cafe Europa review. Nice pic of Elvis too on the cover but no sleeve notes to speak of.

If you are a fan of Elvis or a fan of the movie, this is the CD for you. It has some very good alternative versions that are better than the movie release versions, which are found on the original GI blues albums. I really prefer the outtake versions especially when you can here Elvis making comments on the takes, you feel so connected and part of the take ... one of the Elvis's best Movie CD's in my opinion.

well,I liked hearing the different versions of the tracks we all know, pretty samey, but a great album to have,i dunno why they bother with the film versions, they have just been taken from the movies soundtrack and sound pretty crumby put onto cd,ie,background noises and voices etc etc,but for the alternative tracks alone this is well worth buying, its like, buying G.I,Blues again for the first time,a pleasure.
