This was a fantastic book, I read it in one sitting through the night. For one, Sara Sheridan takes you from static, bleak Scotland, to the neon infused, bustling, around the clock buzz of Hong Kong, via the bright lights of London. After reading The Pleasure Express, I literally felt like I had spent months travelling around these locations, such is Sheridans knack for capturing the atmosphere and details of these places.
The story is also an unputdownable page turner. International organised crime, unimaginable wealth, youth and danger are all mixed up in this lethal cocktail of a book.
The narrator, Kate, is also an addictive character, with her complete and utter lack of guilt in any aspect of her life. Tough and unimaginably daring, you get caught up in her, her friends and their lives of luxury and danger. I recommend anyone who likes reading to read this and take a journey with Kate to the underworld of society.

I've only recently discovered Sara Sheridan though Kindle Books, and have been devouring as many of her books as I can find. Here typical heroine is a feisty young female who with great courage and despite enormous difficulties overcomes disadvantages to win out in surprising ways. This was the second novel I read and concerns a young Scots woman who runs away from a dreary existence to the bright lights of London, becomes involved in prostitution and is 'exported' to Hong Kong to become a high class escort for visiting or ex-patriate westerners. The story is set principally in Hong Kong at the time of the ending of British rule, and describes an extraordinary society on the brink of change and uncertainty. I was amazed at how sympathetic I felt towards the heroine, although her behaviour was in some ways very shocking, and how beleivable the story was, despite its being wholly outside anything I had personally experienced.

I greatly enjoyed this third novel by Sara Sheridan, easily as good as her previous winners. I found the twists and turns of the rollercoaster plot exhilarating, the setting gripping - and I defy you not to be enraptured by her main character...all in all, a real page-turner!

I had'nt read any of Saras books before and thought it looked interesting and it is.

Although the lead character takes a different road to gain a wealthy lifestyle, which wouldn't have been everyone choice you do feel empathy with her and subsiquent friendships.

It's an a good flowing read and really worth trying if you've not read any of her books. I have downloaded two on the back of this one and look forward to reading them.

This is the first Sara Sheridan novel I have read and I highly recommend it to those who enjoy fast paced adventure. It has a bit of everything. Kate and Rosie appear to live the high life as expensive Hong Kong hookers, but at what price. It's great to read a thriller where the female characters lead the action for a change. Sara Sherdian is a great writer if you enjoy a page turner. Highly recommended.

Sara Sheridan writes like no one else I know of - her heroines are girls who are crazy but most definitely in control. The Pleasure Express is exciting, I cuoldn't stop reading it - it was shocking, it made me laugh, it made me wish I had the guts to do even half of what Kate does, after reading it, I almost felt I had - I guess that's what you read a good book for.

This just didn't do it. I found it confused and didn't even bother finishing it - my attention lagged well before the end, and 'life's too short' .... A shame because I've read other of her books which I've really enjoyed. I wouldn't spend my money on this one.

The Pleasure Express is a very unusual book, it feels so honest about the reality of life in the underworld. Its very readable enjoyable and is an uncomplicated account of a complex city. Could not stop reading it. Excellent twist at the end.

I loved this book - great story and you really can't put it down. Usually thrillers like this aren't that well written, but the language in it is beautiful. I'm giving it all the stars going.

An unsavoury world of immoral earnings and yet a main character you can't help but like. Quite a deep plot set in vividly described surroundings of colonial Hong Kong's underworld.
