5.0 out of 5 stars Airfix doubles set, 19 Feb 2014

I have began to get back into Airfix models and have built the U Boat and thought I would give planes another go. Purchasing models as double sets can make it cheaper as it comes with the paints and glue and it takes longer to build the overall models.

The instructions are easy to follow with optional preferences such as landing gear up or down. Painting instructions where very good and the paint supplied was plentiful. Only problems I had was the decals are very delicate and can be easily ruined, they did not have instructions on how to remove the adhesive glue on decals so had to YouTube it ( method I used was to place chosen decal in water for 20 - 30 seconds and then dry using provided tissue paper, slide off decal and apply to glue which has been spread onto the chosen area)

Another issue I found was that the paint for the Zero does not match a pure white as seen on packaging and is a more light green/ grey colour "90" I think. but still looks good (customers may want to use different paint or pick a different colour scheme, look online). The packets containing the models are not listed to which is which so had to compare wings to the instructions.

So why overall 5 stars? The models are a strong plastic and look great after completion. I am not the most experienced Airfix modeller and agree with many that to spite the kit being skill level 1 buyers need to be patient and perhaps watch some videos of planes being built so they can grasp techniques and not stumble into any problems.

Good luck to buyers and enjoy these great models.

Bought this as something for the kids to do on a cold weekend. Was quite impressed that all the paints and brushes were included along with a display stand. Only downside was I assumed the models would be a bit bigger, considering the size box they come in. Still, im sure we will buy more dogfight doubles sets in the future!

Once again a fun but not robust piece of kit.. so if they are to be launched from the landing and dont make the hallway in one piece explain that another kit is needed so one can be flung to oblivion and the other is for Sunday best. Good product though.
