5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!!!
I spent weeks looking into speaker docks for my Iphone4, I wasn't looking for a MAIN house system just for the kitchen/dining room.
Having a Denon system in another room i wanted something decent, not cheap and nasty! Initially i favoured the Bose systems as reviews were good... Went to take a look in store at different types and came across the Sony RDP-X60IP,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Vibrating volume
Initial thoughts lovely looking machine, sounds well, until you turn up the volume. On certain tracks which are bassy it distorts the music and you have to turn down the volume. A bit shocked actually ,expected better.

Having a Denon system in another room i wanted something decent, not cheap and nasty! Initially i favoured the Bose systems as reviews were good... Went to take a look in store at different types and came across the Sony RDP-X60IP, compared to the Bose it looked much better and sounded just the same if not better for half the price!! Went home and found it on Amazon for much less than in store price, 2 days later here we are pride of place in kitchen/diner sounds amazing, deap crisps notes bass levels are very good with no distortion at higher levels, I am so chuffed and would VERY HIGHLY recommend. EXCELLENT SYSTEM...

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant bit of kit!, 29 Jun 2011
This review is from: Sony RDP-X60iP Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
Am really very pleased with this dock. Purchased it to sit in the dining room and yet be portable enough to take down the garden for barbecues. The sound is very rich & solid which is great at low volumes when you still want to hear music but for it not to be so intrusive as to make conversation difficult or, in the case of barbies not to annoy the neighbours. Having said that it has more than enough power to irritate neighbours for streets around if you must. Excellent very pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously Impressive Speakers, 6 Sep 2011
This review is from: Sony RDP-X60iP Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
Just got this yesterday and I am really impressed with the sound. You wouldn't think it was possible to get such strong and high quality sound from such a small dock. Very easy to set up and pair with iphone 4 though it says it won't charge the phone when plugged in.

Love the bluetooth connectivity so I don't need to worry about plugging into the dock every time. In fact I can be upstairs and change the track or the volume downstairs.

Even my wife, who isn't normally interested in things like this is the slightest, really likes it. In fact she guessed I had spent about £400 on it. My kids have been listening to it non stop.

Almost as impressive as the iphone itself!

5.0 out of 5 stars It does what it says, 18 Nov 2011
This review is from: Sony RDP-X60iP Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
I took my time in selecting a speaker system for my iPod, it had to have good sound and I like some BASS. I have used it in the garden and of parties. I have run my computer through it using the wirless option my computer in the house and speakers in the garden. Great Sound and no complaints from the next door as the quality of sound is good.

Easy to use, the remote control is a plus.Sony RDP-X60iP Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone

4.0 out of 5 stars A Bass Head's Dream, 9 Aug 2011
By
Garfy (London, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sony RDP-X60iP Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
Having tried out a number of docks, I settled for the Sony as it out-performed its rivals in the c.£120 price range on price, sound and it's clean looks! To be honest with you, this doesn't quite give the warm clean sound of the Bose but what it does give is bass and lots of it. I have yet to use the 'MegaBass' button for more than just a test as it delivers plenty of it without the help (in fact I've had to employ the Bass Reducer prog on the iPhone). This is not to say that this is in any way a compromise for the mid and high ranges which it also handles well right up to room filling volumes without a hint of distortion.

The Bluetooth function is a very welcome add on allowing connectivity to non iPhone/iPods and I have yet to have connection problems from my laptop/media centre in the lounge streaming to the dock in the kitchen.

An excellent product for the price. I would doubt its appeal to pure audiophiles (hence the 4 stars) but for those looking for a powerful all round dock/speaker system, it fits the bill nicely.

5.0 out of 5 stars superb sound dock, 10 Sep 2011

I had researched i pod docks for some weeks after relegating my old Panasonic midi system to the loft. I started with Bose, following advise from a friend but found them over priced and the reviews less than complimentary! I then looked at the latest Sony X60i dock. I could not believe the rave reviews given the price so I bit the bullet and bought one. Well, everything that I had read was certainly true and now I find myself adding to that list! This is a superb bit of kit that sounds wonderful. Even the most ardent 'headbanger' will appreciate the mega base facility. AND........ it looks great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Toss up between a Bose or this Sony RDP-X60iP - I chose this and glad I did!, 30 Aug 2011
This review is from: Sony RDP-X60iP Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
After reading good reviews about the Sony RDP-X50iP, I looked into getting the newer model - RDP-X60iP, or a Bose iPod dock. As much as I like the Bose I couldn't justify spending £250 on one, so I went for the Sony instead. Wow, am I glad I did, this Sony dock is just as good as a Bose in my opinion, the sound is truly amazing. I used it for a garden party at the weekend and I found it not too 'in your face' loud and tinny like some systems can be, it has a rich sound, with good bass and clarity. The remote is tiny but responsive and easy to use. Unfortunately my iPod Touch 2nd gen hasn't got bluetooth so I can't tell you about streaming music wirelessly with this system.

I've had it a few days now and there is only one minor 'niggle' that I have found, and that is there isn't an indicator for the volume, so you don't know how loud it is, but I can live with this.

Seriously consider the Sony RDP-X60iP if you want decent quality and sound, at almost half the price of a Bose system.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sound, Great Build, 9 Jan 2012

This review is from: Sony RDP-X60iP Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
Ordered it to try based on other reviews. It won't be going back....

The sound IMO is stunning. Clear and warm and if you like extra bass which actually provides a solid rich tone then go for the mega bass button. It was originally intended as a device for my wifes IPhone so she could listen to her own music choices in the house. But I ended up buying am iTouch and putting all our music on it so we can all pick what we want including playlists selected in iTunes. Bluetooth connectivitry is excellent and you can connect any make of phone and you have the option of a hard wired 3.5 connection whhich does the same and if you wish as well as a direct plugged in Apple device. Like all these things be careful of not wiggling the connector too much but its a pretty decent fit given the design of the Apple connector. You can spend a lot more...and a lot less for this sort of device but the design is fairly discreet , its well made and as I say, sounds fantastic so I certainly wouldn't spend more. Even as your only Hi FI device this would do the job if your source is an iphone/iTouch.

To be fair B&W and Bose do players with more bang I suppose but you pay 3-5 times more so they need to be listened to carefully to see if they are right for you. The Sony s no timid beast thats for sure and is more than sufficient for a "normal" size house/room
