"Walking in God's Promises" is an excellent Bible Study for women of all ages and backgrounds, based on the life of Sarah, whose story found in the book of Genesis.
Elizabeth George explores the fact that Sarah spent at least 25 years waiting for God to fulfill His promise and give her a son. Just so, many women today find themselves waiting years and years for God to fulfill His promises to them - how can such women wait in a way that is pleasing to God and walk on through life in faith? Elizabeth Goerge shows us how, drawing many lessons from the life of Sarah. People tend to remember the occasion on which Sarah was impatient (she gave her servantgirl to Abraham, in order to adopt the son thus born) and unkind (she mistreated her servantgirl), but Elizabeth George shows us that Sarah did wait patiently for MANY years, possessed and exhibited many excellent, praiseworthy qualities and is held up as a model of virtue in the New Testament - in Hebrews 11 and 1 Peter 3. Elizabeth George also shows us that God DID fulfill His promise and give Abraham and Sarah a son - Isaac. Studying how Sarah waited in faith and God fulfilled His promise, I found my faith increased.
The writer of 1 Peter said that Christian women become "daughters of Sarah" when they follow her example and do the right thing without being afraid. In a nutshell, this is what "Walking in God's Promises" helpes women to do!
