3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, 20 Jun. 2011
This review is from: String of Crows (Kindle Edition)
I enjoyed the stories, I thought they were fun to read especially 'All the Fools'. Most of it was well written but I tend to agree with a previous reviewer that it was somewhat spoiled by spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and strange continuity errors, eg one character could 'smell smoke' several times and later 'could still smell tobacco' (smoke and tobacco are NOT the same thing). I feel all of these errors could have been sorted out by getting a friend to proof read it before publishing. Also, a few of the endings were rather weak or had been used before, but then I do read a lot of short stories so expect high standards. A bad ending is a let down but doesn't necessarily spoil a good story so having said all that, I would probably still read more from the same author - it was a good price (I paid 69p) for some entertaining reading.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good stories, shame about the typos, 17 Jun. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: String of Crows (Kindle Edition)
This was a chilling set of tales, well enough written but not, as a previous reviewer has suggested, in the same class as Stephen King.

This would have been a four star rating were it not for the large number of typos littering every page. It looks as if the author might have used voice recognition software to create the stories as some of the errors are very strange: sty instead of stile, waive instead of wave, shuttered instead of shuddered etc. And there was, of course, the usual misuse of there, their and they're and confusion between break and brake.

Worst of all was the way in which the name of one of the characters in Rich Man Poor Man suddenly changed from Stephanie to Christine a third of the way into the story.

Nice try, but more attention to detail is required to secure a better rating from me.
