Great book providing an insight into the Video Game consoles and Home Computers of the 70s, 80s and 90s. There is a follow up part 2 that covers most of the ones that are missed however this is not on the Kindle yet. The Kindle edition has the text of the printed edition but misses many of the pictures especially the screenshots. Some of the colour and atmosphere is lost from the large format printed version. It is however still a good read and better than spending over 100 the speculators are currently asking for the book as this is now out of print and hard to come by.

5.0 out of 5 stars Geek-gasm, 4 May 2012

This is really a reference tool for those with interest in Retro Gaming. Every page, for me, is some childhood memory revisited. It is also exceptionally well written and well-researched. eBooks of this quality are rare.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Kindle purchase!, 29 Nov 2013
This review is from: Classic Videogames Hardware Genius Guide (Kindle Edition)
This book is the most comprehensive retro video gaming book out there! This and 1001 video games are must-haves for any retro gamer. The book also went above and beyond what it promised to. Despite my youth (16, but I'm no n00b, always liked retro games since SWOS A1200 when I was 8) the book promised me that I would want at least one system after reading. I am waiting for my Jaguar to arrive and also getting an N64, would have liked 32X, PS1 and CD32 but nothing is perfect 'D read again and again! 100%

Although hard-core gaming enthusiasts will most likely already know much of what is on offer here, the book is worth the price alone just for the chapter covering the demise of the fabled Konix system. Great to see information and stories of this kind told from a British perspective for once.
