There is no track listing for this set so here is one I Blue Peter like , made earlier!

The box set has 8 Lps over 4 CDs.
The Cds do not list the contents.

I really would suggest that you go to Amazon USA and read their reviews of the sets.

Some suggest like , the reviwer Cdesim, for example the sound is not good on some of the CDs.
My advice?

Read the reviews and make your own mind up.
If that is not enough there is a second volume on the Real Gone Jazz label.
Here is a link.

Well, it is.... jazz (spell it jazz, jass or jasz) has a very broad church. The main benefit of a release like this is that you get at a bargain price eight very different albums by the same musicians. The MJQ were never static in their approach and (par exemple) on CD3 "Fontessa" (1956) is a very different affair to "Third Stream Music" (1957) which occupies the disc from track 8.
The remainder of the CDs are occupied with
CD1: "Sonny Rollins with the Modern Jazz Quartet" (1953) / "An exceptional encounter(with Ben Webster)" (1953)
CD2: "Django" (1956) / "Concorde" (1955)
CD4: "Odds against Tomorrow" (1959) - a film soundtrack / "Pyramid" (1959)
I've had Fontessa and Concorde (which was a 10" LP) for years and find them calming (I used to do my homework to their accompaniment!). This set has given me a chance to hear them snap, crackle and pop-free as well as explore the changing nuances of some very smooth jazz...
Half a century on, and ignoring stereotypes like beardies in poloneck sweaters drinking espresso ("Niiice") these CDs should prove a revelation to the serious student of jazz and even to those who seek the inner peace music can bring.

EXCEPTIONAL VALUE for the money and the transfers are EXCELLENT

I really wanted to get a good variety of MJQ. on a CD set and these 4 CD's really have it all, combining 8 albums into 4 CD's and the first one is almost a bonus with Sonny Rollins and Ben Webster as the main artists playing as guests with MJQ. What a treat. I was not so enamored with their Third Stream music but it's there for you to dip into and try it without it being overpowering.and of course it was very experimental when it first came out so I try it every now and then. The C.D was delivered in double quick time so no problems there then.

Gradually I am rebuilding a lost record collection,a record of many evenings spent listening to the modern jazz quartet, usually on my own as they were a not everyones taste, but I must have been ahead of my mates.

I played through the whole set recently-got me through some decorating with ease! Very relaxing, good evening/dinner background music. Not sure how they rate re: true hifi quality, but I've ripped the set and play through Windows Media Center, Yamaha Cinema amp and Acoustic Energy Evo speakers-the discs sound good to me.

This set consists of eight albums by the MJQ on 4 CDs. It features their classic album, Django.

Eight albums may be too much of this one sitting, but they were a fascinating group with an odd lineup that consisted of vibes, drums, bass and piano. Their albums generally feature a lot of interplay between piano and vibes. Apparently, this stuff was called "Third Stream" due to the influence of classical music.

Highly recommended for anyone exploring jazz, as the MJQ were one of the more innovative and unique groups of post-war years.
