GUBS is a great family card game. The setup is simple- deal 5 cards to each person. The gameplay easy (draw a card, play as many cards on your turn as you want). The aim is to have as many GUBS (free or protected) in your care at the end of the game.
You receive or capture GUBS by playing cards. Each card has it's own effect on the GUBS and/or the other players'. You get to steal other players' cards, destroy and capture their GUBS, swap hands, trick other players.
It's best played with 3 or more. With 2 you're swapping cards with each other. With 3 you can choose who to be nasty to!
Players need a reasonable reading ability. My year '3' boy was absolutely fine, but I think he might have struggled a year ago. It's a game that is as enjoyable to play as adults as it is with kids. The inherent luck/skill balance of drawing and playing cards make it the perfect family game.

This game is brilliant. Don't let the age ten rating put you off (my eight year old nephew and nine year old neighbour can play with terrifying ease) and this is by no means a simple children's game. Once you get used to the cards and what each one can do it becomes a game of tactics...that can be undone by a single card or a series of clever plays. You might think you're ahead, but then Dangerous Alchemy comes along and ruins your plans. Then your opponent might get ravaged by Garok plague. Then lightening Strikes your Esteemed Elder and you can't do a Flop Boat to stop it. This game just doesn't seem to get boring no matter how many times you play.

This is a great game, more complex than Sleeping Queens that has been our favourite for some years, but a great game to graduate to after Sleeping Queens.
Suitable for no younger than 9-10 yrs for sure.

Love this game! Never been into games until purchasing this and it's made me aged 28 and my partner aged 29 very happy. Such a boredom breaker when I was in hospital and continued to play it when at home.

This game is absolutely genius! It's one of the most clever card games I've ever come across for children.
My Kids absolutely love it and just Wanna play over and over again.
The cards are beautifully designed & made and the graphics are delightful.
This game really makes your children think whilst having a lot of fun at the same time.
totally recommend!

My students love this game!! One even wrote a story based on the cards in their free time!! It takes awhile to get familiar with all the cards, but after a few times everyone starts to really get into it. It provides some excitment for adults too. Best of all, i find it equally fun no matter how many players up to six at a time.

Such a fun game. Played by everyone in our family and quickly became a favourite. Once you've learnt what the cards do it can be pretty quick to play. Even my 4yo has memorised what the cards do and plays it with us :D
