This handy little device is ideal for these times where you have multiple devices that can be powered off the 12V socket in your car but only have one socket.

In our case we've had several occasions where our Satnav was plugged in and we thus couldn't charge our phones. This device doubles up your 12V socket so you can.

You simply plug it in, adjust the neck angle as you see fit and plug the devices in. It's simple and works well.

My review of the AmazonBasics Dual-Port Swivel Cigarette Lighter Adapter is a bit of an unusual one, since I don't feel I can review this product as well as I would have liked to because I cannot get it to fit my car (a Nissan Tino). Now, this may be down to me not understanding something critical (unusual as I am normally quite good with gadgets!) or this may be that perhaps an adapter is needed for the actual adapter to work and since I have never had this type of adapter before, I just don't know if anything else is required! So this is my view of what I thought about it, as I can't be the only cigarette-lighter-adapter-novice in Britain, surely? Given I've read the instructions and they do simply say, very clearly - "To use: Step one: Insert the adapter into the cigarette lighter..." I don't think it's any trickier than that, othwerwise the instructions will say. And as far as I can tell, the instructions are not difficult and are very clear. So, if this really is the only thing to do, and an adapter for this adapter is not required -- this doesn't fit my car -- in which case I doubt one size fits all therefore, there may be others like me left wondering - have I done something wrong? Is there something I am just not getting?

The actual quality for an AmazonBasics product seems pretty good to me. There's a grey button to press in, which clicks into place and seems sturdy enough that is can be put into any angle up to 180 degrees and stay fixed into place.

There is also an LED light which (apparently) lights up to show when it's connected to the power supply - always handy to know - and would be very useful if it would fit my car.

As usual with all AmazonBasics products I found the Amazon Frustration-Free packaging made it easy to open and there was little waste to dispose of.

In an effort to review this better, I will try to find other cars (of friends and family) to test this out on.

Meanwhile, I will give it three stars as it is "Okay" (quality wise) based on my limited review, but I cannot test if it actually works. If anyone can help me understand this product better, or tell me where I am going wrong, please do.

A recent trip down through France revealed one large flaw in my car; too many gadgets and not enough power sockets. This inexpensive cigarette lighter splitter works well. It is long (6 inches) so stuck out too far when in the lighter socket in the front of the car but was fine in the back for the kids to use. It does have a small button that allows you to swivel the the adaptor but this is difficult to do when it is plugged in (mind your long fingernails!) All in all this is an inexpensive adaptor and one worth considering if this is what you need.

There's a not a lot you can say about these kind of products really, is there? Firstly the packaging wasn't too difficult to get into which is always a bonus. I've forgotten the amount of times I've sliced by fingers on the edge of a blister pack or equally howled at the moon because I can't find a pair of scissors.

As it's a "Basic" item it's cheap and cheerful, but the only cheap thing about it is the price. It seems solidly built and I imagine it will last being pulled about in the car. It's handy for those times when you want to have use of your sat nav and something else, usually my son's 3DS!

The swivel head is useful, particularly in our car where the cigarette light point is in a slightly bizarre place.

Simple, cheap and effective.

I have often found it annoying when my phone needs charging, but I need the Sat Nav, so it'd be a choice, get to my destination without getting lost, and have a dead phone, or charge the phone - No Sat Nav. Now I can have both :)

This does exactly what it is supposed to do. It sturdy and has a little hinge so you can position it as required. With today's Smartphone's able to do everything except 'hold a charge' - I find this a Godsend as I can use Sat Nav whilst charging the phone.

Although I usually like the Amazon Basics range, this product certainly seems more cheaply produced and finished than other products we have purchased from the range. If you have an awkward to reach cigarette lighter socket, this would be a useful adapter as the range of movement means it can be set to a good range of angles. However in our car, the socket is close to the gear lever and this bulky adapter kept getting knocked when changing gear. Furthermore the weight of the adapter plus 2 plugs in it meant it kept tending to work loose from the socket and therefore losing contact. Our car socket is horizontal, a more vertical socket would probably work better. We have another product, a triple adapter with a single plug on a length of cable so the adapter itself can be positioned away from the gear lever. In our case this works much better, but really it depends on the layout of your vehicle.

To be honest, I just couldn't fault it. It works, exactly as it should. I like the fact that it protrudes a fair bit out, so the double port does not get caught up in anything else, and the grey button which angles the head is easy to reach and use, regardless of what is plugged in. I also like the blue light on it which tells you it is properly inserted.

As I say, this is great value, and I have to recommend it.

If you have a SatNav and your phone goes flat, it's really inconvenient to unplug one and charge the other. This is where this innovative little product comes in handy.It's also good for long journeys for couples as well as children who need to plug their DSs or TVs. Works perfectly, recommended.

Very disappointed as it basically does not fit.! If you look closely at the pictures, you can see an adjustable locking ring which, in theory, is supposed to rotate and expand the plug. However, the inferior plastic thread is nowhere near robust enough to secure into the car's cigarette lighter, so it just does not work. After a couple of days of trying to have it jammed in, it actually then pretty much fell apart.

A simple gadget that allows two devices to be plugged into a car's cigarette lighter at the same time. I use it to allow me to use a Sat Nav and charge up my mobile phone at the same time. It looks quite big when it first arrives, but because it swivels through 90 degrees, it allows cables to be re-directed out of the way. Without it, the Sat Nav cable used to hang in the way and get caught around the gear stick. With it, the cables are directed to the passenger side, keeping clear of the gear stick.

It's supposed to have an LED to show when it's drawing current. Maybe it's hidden around the back because of the way I have it directed, but I've never noticed the thing. In my book, that's good - the less distracting lights in a car the better.

Simple, good value and effective. Recommended.
