This overlooked quartet album by the alto saxophonist Cannonball Adderley(1928-1975) was recorded in New York City on January 27, February 21 & March 13, 1961 with pianist Bill Evans and the rhythm section of the MJQ, bassist Percy Heath & drummer Connie Kay.
Adderley & Evans complement one another beautifully on eleven memorable tracks(including three alternative takes) with the highlights including Evans' 'Waltz For Debby' and 'Know What I Mean?'(2 takes) plus Clifford Jordan's joyful 'Toy'(2 takes).
Almost an hour of swinging and exhilarating jazz, this OJC Remaster(2011) makes a fine introduction to both Adderley & Evans.
