5.0 out of 5 stars Timex Expedition Quartz T49853, 13 Dec 2011
This review is from: Timex Expedition Men's Outdoor Quartz Watches T49853 with Black Fabric Strap (Watch)
This is a smart, chunky digital watch with a good clear screen, three alarms, stopwatch, reminder system and indiglo see in the dark lighting. It keeps very accurate time. It comes with clear instructions on how to use the various functions, which cover all the bases for me as I am not a scuba diving, mountaineering fitness fanatic. It is nice and comfortable to wear and is just the right weight. For the US there is a function enabling it to be set to various timezones. Great build quality, as you'd expect from Timex.

Cheap but chearful watch. Not worth paying 40 something though. If you shop about you can get it for 28ish which makes more sence. Don't be put off by other reviews about poor instructions, its a "digital watch" a they haven't changed much in 30 years so its easy to use. It has a hydration mode on it which will alarm at set intervals to remind you when to have a drink when training, although this is a bit gimicky you can hide this function. You can set 3 different alarm times which is handy although you have to choose between chime, vibrate or a combination of both for all of them, it would have been nice to be able to choose for each one of the 3 alarms. If you need to tell the time in the dark (night worker etc)then the indiglo light is excellant and works better the darker it gets, Hold the light button down for 4 seconds and the light will come on when any button is pressed making it easy to change alarms or settings in complete darkness which is handy. All in all it is still a sheep dressed in wolfs clothing though and as i said earlier this is a very good 20 something watch, but definately not 4o pounder. ( I like it!)

User instructions not judged to be robust! Either physicaly or from the point of view that it was easily understood.
It is a number of years since I last had experience of setting a digital watch, a Timex Ironman but the imperfect memory of this process meant more than the written instructions. Perhaps Timex should investigate the possibilty of improving these.
However I do not wish to distract from my satisfaction with the watch! Obviously a careful selection of features put this ahead of most rivals. You cannot add vibration to the alarms unless this is included in the original specification! This watch allows vibration only, sound only or vibration and sound.
I am slightly displeased with the difficulty of making the choice amongst the various Timex possibilies.
I am left with the feeling that I may have missed out on a cheaper alternative?

4.0 out of 5 stars timex vibration alarm, 28 Sep 2013

Delivery was great, ordered on sat. del. on mon.
On opening the box I was a little disappointed, the watch looked cheaply made, it probably is, but do not let that put you off.
I have been looking for a good alarm watch for ages. I have been through the casio range they are all too quiet unless you tape them to your ear. This timex is great, if you set to vib and chime it vibrates for 10 sec. then chimes for another 10 sec., if you do not switch it off it will repeat, thats great if you are in a noisy place you can feel the vib like a small electric shock, ( tried it in Asda ) . You can switch off any functions you do not need unlike other watches were you have to scroll through all the functions, I do not need hydration or maltiple alarms, but they are there if needed. The digits are nice and big, do not need my glasses, you can change the order of the date/month, they come set the U.S.way 12/24 hour display , the back light works great, the watch is 2" across , I have small wrists but it fits just nice. I have just remembered to set the vib alarm you have to set it through the time set menu, this is not explained in the instructions . The only thing I do not like is the height of the watch 1/2" 12cms .
